Friendly, knowledgeable staff and docs. The DO treat rodents and small pets, which many area vets don't. Also compared to other area vets, they are somewhat more reasonable in cost.

My 3yr. Old pittie mix had surgery. Doc Adam was kind and very informative. The entire staff is very professional. Would recommend Western Clinic for affordable, compassionate pet care.

I took my kitty Olive here April of 2016 to get a partial front declaw. I am originally from Quincy, and have generally always received great service from Western; so, when I had to find a place to take my precious baby, I wanted to go somewhere I trusted. Around Thanksgiving 2017, Olive started having issues with her right paw. She had a scab that continually grew on the bottom of her paw, as well as an open wound that started to develop on the top of her paw. I live in Chicago, and because I could not drive back home to Quincy, I took Olive to 2 different vets costing me over $1000 later to figure out what was happening. Finally after 2 months of vet visits every 3 to 5 days, McCormick Animal Hospital found that her claw was growing back. According to the surgeon who removed this claw, which was sharp enough to pierce her skin causing the scabbing and was about the size of a push tac, Western Illinois Vet Clinic failed to remove the bone portion of the claw. Upon receiving this news, I set up an appointment to get the bone removed, costing me an additional $377 on top of the prior $1000+ spent. I decided to reach out to WIVC to see if they would be willing to issue some type of refund or financial assistance due to their impartial surgical performance. I spoke with the owner Dr. Dietrich, hoping to find a resolution. Unfortunately that was not provided to me. He told me that unless I made the 5 hour drive back to Quincy, there was nothing he would be willing to do. Then he presumed to tell me that her claw growing back might not have anything to do with the declawing procedure they performed, which is bizarre to me. I must say I am disappointed about this experience, and it's upsetting to know my poor kitty was put through the pain of a claw growing back. I feel if you pay for a service that was partially done, compensation should be made for me having to finish what should have been done in the first place. I don't expect a full refund, or even the cost of what I paid to remove this claw AGAIN, as I know Chicago has higher rates. But it would have been nice if Dr. Dietrich showed more compassion, and offered a refund, maybe whatever he would charge another customer who would come in for this type of surgery. I'm not deterring people from going here, because like I said this is my only bad experience...just advising Dr. Dietrich to acknowledge his mistake and offer some type of compensation for what myself and my kitty Olive had to go through.

I took our dog there to get looked at. Staff was friendly. Pretty reasonable cost.
