Dr. Scott D. Shaw, DVM, CVA
Dr. Scott Shaw has been practicing veterinary medicine for over twenty-nine years. He has treated the gamut of animal including racehorses, cattle, sheep, goats, ostriches, dogs, cats, birds, wildlife and "pocket pets". His interest in being a veterinarian arose at an early age from caring for his brood of farm animals. Since graduation, he has continued to expand his knowledge by attending numerous continuing education courses. During the first part of his career he attended classes on internal medicine, advanced dentistry and orthopedic surgical techniques. For the past twelve years he has expanded his education into holistic medicine. He finished the professional veterinary homeopathy course in 2000. He became a certified veterinary acupuncturist in 2004. Since then he has taken many classes on advanced acupuncture techniques, Chinese herbal medicine and food therapy. He feels the blending of western and eastern medicine creates a balance for optimum patient care. Dr. Shaw's family includes his wife Kristin, twin sons Nathan and Douglas, Goldie the goldfish, Kevin the spotted gecko, Annie the cat and the newest addition, Biggs, a Welsh Corgi puppy.
Dr. Shaw is very involved with the community. He is vice-president of the Central Oregon Veterinary Medical Association and is on the advisory board for the veterinary technician program at COCC. He also works with Bend Spay/Neuter Project in their community outreach programs. He is an avid mountain bike rider and is active in the Central Oregon Trail Association.
MacKenzie Sweet, Veterinary Assistant
MacKenzie Sweet is a Bend Native who graduated from Bend Senior High School and attended College at Central Oregon Community College and Penn Foster University. She has been in the Vet field since 2003 ranging from reception, grooming/boarding, Vet Tech assistant to Vet Tech. MacKenzie has 5 dogs and 1 cat. On her off time she enjoys taking her dogs out for a hike or to the lake for the day and being a part of all that Central Oregon has to offer.
