This place is my backyard, my playground, my church, my sanctuary, my home away from home. A place where I hike, kayak, camp, meditate, explore, hunt, fish, imagine, dream, share, learn, laugh and love. My spirit shines in these pines. These woods are full of rich history that, begins long before it was "discovered" by murderous, greedy and barbaric white settlers, and continues through wars, long extinct industries and into the protected lands we enjoy today. If only the trees could talk they would tell many tales of good and evil and mystery. I hope that anyone who visits The Pine Barrens takes the time to learn about its unique history, hidden beauty and colorful folklore. I further hope that visitors also respect the pristine beauty of our reserved natural wilderness and respect my home as you would your own.

If you love the wilderness, and you love south jersey, or NJ period, you would be a fool not to visit at some point in your life. Largest state park east of the Mississippi... in the most densely populated state, might I add! Hiking, biking, fishing, camping, canoeing, just taking a walk through historic Batsto village.... The list goes on and on... Wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle! Can feel like your miles away from anything but you're only a short drive from some of the largest cities in the world! Glad to call it home! FLY EAGLES FLY!

Awesome place for wheeling/off-roading. Lots of trails but nothing too serious/technical. Be ware of deep pits filled with water. Someone digs them 3-4 feet deep on purpose.

This review is referring to Batso village - This is a wonderful place with extensive trails that are well maintained. There's a small museum, old Post office and visitor center and the historic town is partially open to the public, the various homes and workshops are also open (the Manor is only open during paid tours). Sometimes there are people/volunteers in a small blacksmith shop that's open to public observation.

Favorite go to place for tranquility and peaceful surroundings!! Well taken care! Always worthy of a drive through and walk.
