Good place for camping though a swimming hole would improve it immensely. My only other complaint (due to multiple ages of girls with me) is pit toilets. We will leave that joy for the boys. Beautiful scenery and trails.

New Jersey has a lot of State forests. All of them including Brendan T Byrne State Forest are great places for hiking camping fishing and just exploring the outdoors. They are free to visit with the exception of camping which require permits at a nominal fee . Early reservations are recommended has some of the campsites fill up rather quickly.

Plenty of well marked trails to walk, or paved roads to ride your bike, just watch out for crossing deer though. Ranger station is full of trail maps, local books and a wealth of knowledge.

Spent the day at Whitesbog Village. Learned a bit of local history, bought some locally produced honey at the General Store, and spent a few hours on the trails. It's a pleasant place to get away from the frantic pace of life, and it's only a short drive from home.

We rented a cabin for DIRT CHEAP and spent an amazing three days here. It was quiet and lovely. Cabins were clean and private. Id come back for another week if possible.
