Dr. William Ko is a great Doctor, but his staff is super unprofessional (especially Wendy): Strike One: Earlier this Year Wendy charged me the wrong copay amount. Once I found out about it and requested a refund, she told me to wait 30 days until their accounting updates and I can walk in anytime to process refund. Once I waited the 30 days, I stopped by the office and Wendy gave me the runaround saying that I needed an appointment to process refund. I then spoke with a supervisor and got my refund. Wendy then gave me a mean stare and ignored me. Because of this, I cancelled my future follow up appointment on the spot with Wendy. Strike Two: Wendy called me about two weeks ago for a appointment reminder which I supposedly cancelled with her personally. Obviously she does not listen to the customer or just simply forgot what the customer tells her. Strike Three: I called in today trying to schedule an appointment for my wife describing her symptoms and Wendy kept arguing with me on what was said and not said. Although I clarified to her what the symptoms were, she kept on arguing that it wasn't what I told her. Rather than trying to argue over who is right or wrong, why don't Wendy just sit back and listen to what the customer is telling you now and have sympathy for your patients. I then told her to forget it and I hung up. My Family and I really love Dr. William Ko, but something really needs to be addressed with his staff.

Doctor Ko is my family eye doctor (mother/father/sister). He is very knowledgeable, considerate, and just speaking with him builds your confidence in him, which is a rare quality. I like him a lot. So, when I tried to use my health plan, allied physicians,I was told to go back to my primary care physician for a referral. They saId Dr. Ko is on the Allied physician network,so I should be approved. That was it. I was not told what to do after that. The front office staff are all Asian and makes communication in English extremely frustrating. I can't get clear answers, because some of them say they don't know anything. I should say that the office is next to Chinatown#2 (Alhambra, CA), which explains the front desk help. When asking about the paperwork my primary care physician gave me about my eye exam results, the office staff, specifically the frame/lens sales person, said to go elsewhere for answers. The language barrier at the front desk really discouraged me from getting my own eye doctor, especially because of the service I got from the frame/lens person working for Dr. Ko. As for the nursing staff, they are patient, kind, respectful, and speak English well. I have no trouble communicating with them or getting instruction from them. It's hard to get good help. Still, having over a dozen visits taking family members for visits, I have complete confidence in Dr. Ko. Once I can get past allied physicians barrier,, and just learn to accept the language barrier, I know I can get high quality care from Dr.Ko.
