Great place. There always seems to be an event going on, which is nice. There's lots of space devoted to children, which my 11-month-old loves. I telecommute to my job most days, and the art room is an excellent place for that, except it's often used for events. It's difficult to find a comfy chair with a table near an outlet elsewhere in the library, aside from some very narrow desks which have supremely uncomfortable chairs. Just a minor complaint for an overall great place.

Many decades ago I spent countless hours in the stacks of books in the Winona Public Library. It was a refuge at first and then became an inspiration that's followed me my entire life. I became a writer - first a journalist and then an author. The solace and opportunity I found in this beautiful, historic library taught me the world is wide and possibility abounds. Thanks to all the librarians (who "shhhsh'd me many times) but tolerated a hyperactive girl with dreams. Darby (Pat) Patterson, Sacramento

I visited this place with my dad as a child. I was enchanted with the plate glass floor tiles tucked away on the third floor. The rows of books thrilled me, the smell of books lingered in the air. I am pleased to say anyone is welcome to experience that same enchantment today. Little changed to the heart of this beautiful building, thank goodness.
