Vahan Yepremyan, Esq.
Education:
Vahan Yepremyan graduated from University of California at Berkley, Magna Cum Laude, with High Honors in General Scholarship and High Departmental Honors (top 4%). Vahan earned his Bachelor degree as Double Major in Political Science and International Relations, and Minor in Slavic Languages. His Senior Honor Thesis received “Highest Honors” and was published the same year by the University.
During his undergraduate years Vahan was active in several honor societies organizations. He was the President of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society, Vice-President of Student Body, President of the Armenian Student Association and was an active member and coordinator of Golden Key National Honor Society.
Vahan earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from University of Southern California. While earning his doctorate degree, Vahan was also the Editor and Member of the Executive Board of Hale Moot Court Honors Program, as well as member of Jessup International Law Moot Court Team, where he was part of the select team of students representing his law school in international mock trial competition between various law schools.
During his studies, Vahan received numerous awards and was recognized by many organizations. Such awards included: Distinguished Man of the Year Award; Letter's and Science Dean's Honor's List (multiple years); National Dean's List Award (multiple years); Kiwanis Club Award for Leadership and Academic Excellence; Associated Student Body Leadership and Academic Award; Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society Academic and Service Awards; Robert J. Taylor Scholar's Award; Gulbenkian Scholastic Achievement and Leadership Award.
Work Experience:
Vahan’s work experience is very diverse, including involvement in politics, law, business and film.
During President Bill Clinton's administration, Vahan worked at the White House think-tank, Economic Strategy Institute, where he researched, analyzed and wrote reports on various issues of US trade relations with Japan and Russia. These reports were distributed to the White House and the Congress to be used in drafting US economic policy and assisting in negotiation process and official meetings with the governments of Japan and Russia.
Following this, he was recruited to join Al Gore’s Presidential campaign as a California representative, coordinating fundraising within the entertainment industry. He helped organize a fundraising event featuring President Clinton and Vice-President Gore, that was attended by the Hollywood’s elite; the event raised one of the largest sums in one evening during Presidential candidate Al Gore’s campaign.
Subsequent to this, Vahan was hired by a major lobby group in Washington DC, to assist them in their efforts. He met with Congressional officials regarding pending bills and helped to draft proposed legislation regarding various issues at hand. He assisted the governmental affairs department in their agenda of writing to and meeting with Congressional officers regarding specific bills and initiatives upcoming for a vote. He also was in charge of and coordinated their intern program.
Vahan returned to Washington, DC to clerk for the U.S. Department of Justice, at the U.S. Attorney's Office, where he worked on prosecuting major criminal cases in US Federal Courts, including major international money laundering and drug trafficking cases. He also assisted the FBI and DEA agents in on-going investigations and case-preparation for prosecution.
In 1998, Vahan decided to open his own law firm in Los Angeles, and for the following 16 years he has successfully managed his boutique law firm. Vahan and his firm, Yepremyan Law Firm, have been a trusted legal and strategic business advisor to a diverse client base. His clientele includes large multinational corporations, American and foreign companies and high net worth individuals. His practice specializes in business, corporate and transactional law. He has helped clients navigate the full range of legal and business issues associated with creative projects and new ventures domestically and internationally.
Yepremyan Law Firm has a diverse and experienced attorneys and legal staff. Attorneys and associates include lawyers licensed in California, New York, Florida, European Union, Mexico, Russia and Armenia. Yepremyan Law Firm also has an experienced and professional staff that includes 12 paralegals and legal assistants, that speak several languages, including Spanish, Russian, and Armenian.
Vahan has worked on myriad of complex business deals and transactions, involving real estate development, finance, investment, manufacturing and trade. He has helped to negotiate, structure and execute multi-million dollar international complex deals. His understanding of financial, legal and business aspects has been an invaluable asset for his clientele, who has also benefitted from his vast network of political, business and financial contacts.
Vahan is also the Chief Operational Officer and co-owner of Ketchup Entertainment, a film production and distribution company. His company has over 14 motion pictures and documentaries, starring such high caliber actors as Emma Tompson, Pierce Brosnan, Kate Bosworth, John Lucas, Paul Walker, Eddie Izzard, Jason Fleming, Jeoffrey Rush, and others. Their documentary titled “Linsanity” about the underdog story of Jeremy Linn and his rise in NBA has been named an Oscar contender for 2014.
Besides his busy legal and business career, Vahan has continued his political involvement and service.
He was asked by President George Bush to serve on the Presidential Business Committee, as one of the California representatives. He promoted pro-business agenda, and represented California’s business interests, advising on issues California businesses face and proposed various solutions.
Vahan was also invited by the Republican Leadership of the United States Senate to serve as a member of the Republican Senatorial Inner Circle from the State of California.
Subsequently, Business Advisory Council appointed Vahan as the Honorary State Co-Chairman for the State of California, which was published in The Wall Street Journal.
His main task was to identify and address issues California businesses face, including legislation on tax reform and fiscal responsibility.
Vahan has been and continues to guest lecture at numerous colleges, business groups and associations, and has authored numerous published articles on a wide range of business and legal issues.
Awards
Vahan has been recognized and has received number of awards for his work.
He was a recipient of the prestigious Republican Gold Medal awarded to him by the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Governing Board of Editors of the American Biographic Institute awarded Vahan the prestigious American Medal of Honor.
Vahan received a National Leadership Award by the Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee for assistance and leadership in promoting pro-business agenda including tax reform and fiscal responsibility.
The Business Advisory Council awarded him with the National Leadership Award for his contribution in political strategy meetings with Congressional Leaders and key members of the Administration. This was featured in Wall Street Journal and USA Today.
Vahan’s most recent accomplishments and awards include the 2013 Trusted Adviser Award and 2013 Innovation Leadership Award presented to him by the Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley Business Journals.
Vahan also received the 2013 Top Lawyers In California Award presented by American Lawyers Media and The Legal Network. This award recognizes select number of attorneys who have reached “Highest In Ethical Standards And Professional Excellence.”
As one of the Executive Producers of the film “Lost Christmas” for BBC, Vahan and his company, Ketchup Entertainment, were awarded the International Emmy Award. He was also nominated for British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) which is the equivalent of Oscars in UK, and the Broadcast Award.
Charitable Contribution
Vahan is actively involved in various charitable causes, contributing both his time and finances to further numerous causes, including children’s rights, world hunger, access to clean water and health care.
World Vision (Children’s Right’s Organization): Vahan travelled to Cambodia with the film crew to cover a story about Child Labor and Child Sex Trafficking; donated money and continue to support the cause.
Wells of Hope (Clean Water Initiative): travelled to Guatemala with the film crew to cover a story about extreme poverty in Jalapa region; donated money and took part in building a school.
Miracles in Action: financed and helped to build a home for a family in need in Jalapa, Guatemala.
Orphanages in Mexico, Armenia, Russia, etc.: travelled to various orphanages around the world, provided financial assistance for food, clothing and supplies.
Salvation Army Soup Kitchen: donated and took part in serving food for the homeless.
Scholarships for Less Fortunate: organized fundraiser for scholarships for students in financial need.
