Bruce Rogers is a world class Iyengar yoga instructor who has studied with the great Iyengar yoga masters in India for most of his adult life. His teachings combine physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of yoga, creating a whole experience in every class. I have been studying yoga for many years and learn important and new techniques in every class. St. Louis is very fortunate to have the high level of Iyengar yoga instruction that Bruce provides. Great for beginners, too. Start out learning yoga the right way!

I've been going to Yoga St. Louis for four years, I highly recommend it, especially if you have any physical issues: I have scoliosis, and they've shown me several poses that strengthen my back I do at home, it has helped immensely ! Bruce's knowledge and training are incredibly in-depth...FYI Iyengar yoga training is a *lot* longer than typical yoga certifications, including going to India. Yes, some people find Bruce a bit brusque, but IMO it's a reflection of how they teach yoga in India, it's more directive and not so "new age". And it also includes talking about the philosophy behind yoga. Overall the self-awareness and physical benefits I've gotten are amazing, and well worth it!!! Namaste

I've been attending classes at Yoga St. Louis for the past three years. If you want to learn what Yoga is really about this is the place for you! Bruce and his staff are extremely competent and well trained in teaching the Iyengar method. I don't feel myself mentally of physically without my weekly class.

I have never written a review before but feel compelled to warn you about my awful experience at this place. My first session of the intro class was good. Kathy Digby was a great instructor and seemed to really know her stuff. My second day was a makeup class with Bruce, the owner, as my instructor. He was very unhappy with me and spent most of the first 15 minutes showing his frustration with me and admonishing me for nearly everything I did (folding blanket incorrectly, wrong positioning, glasses, protecting my sore knees.......). I'm not talking about constructive criticism; I'm talking about visible exasperation and anger that made even the other classmates uncomfortable. After he questioned me about my knee issue then ridiculed my explanation, I walked out. I don't know if he was angry with me or has some other issue, but if he is an example of what practicing yoga can do, I don't want any part of it.

If you are a serious student of yoga (or want to be), then this is the studio for you. Over the past 40 years I have taken all sorts of yoga classes with all sorts of instructors, but never have I seen a more skilled and dedicated yoga teacher than Bruce Roger. It has been my good fortune to be his student since 1986, and St. Louis is fortunate to have him as a yoga resource. Bruce Roger is an intelligent teacher for students who are interested in learning the ancient art of yoga, not the latest fads that exploit yoga; for students who are interested in a teacher who will care for them, not coddle them; and for students who expect to work hard physically, mentally and emotionally, not have the work magically done for them. Kathy Digby and Tiki Misra, the other instructors at Yoga St. Louis, are excellent teachers as well. Both are smart and dedicated. I have taken classes with each of them over the years, and always look forward to learning their different approaches and insights.
