Always a local favorite. Food quality excellent  and number of choices is amazing. Crowded tables, very loud but still a great choice.  Soups, salads, sandwiches at lunch with over- the -top dessert choices all of the time. A winning place.

This is one of my very favorite local restaurants!  I've been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the past 19 years and it's all incredibly delicious for a fabulous price.  I especially enjoy their freshly baked breads, their wide variety of salads, the carrot ginger soup, and honey lemon pancakes—no syrup needed whatsoever!  Of course, you can never leave Zake's without dessert!  They always have an AMAZING selection of cakes, pies, tarts, etc., so a good part of my visit is spent deciding which treats we'll take home with us.  (With this awesome food, we don't usually have room after the meal to fit in the sweets, so we save them for later.)  Our best strategy is for each person to order a different item and then we can all sample.  Zake's presentations are extraordinary; their staff is friendly and accommodating; they serve gluten- and dairy-free dishes; a prix fixe menu is offered two nights a week; and the place is BYOB!!!  What more do you need from a great meal out?

I got the crab cake sandwich and the cake had obviously been microwave horrifically. I had to really pull to take off pieces of it. I don't even want to talk about quality because they can't even put together a crab cake fresh or not at all. But I'm going to comment on the lack there of seasoning....I don't mind a crab cake with no seasoning  if it's quality crab meat but it wasn't. 

The menu was a tell tale sign this second food experience, in a 4 year span was going to stink. They were making everything a salad even when it was a sandwich....

I almost hesitate to review, since more people will know about this AWESOME restaurant, and it will get even more crowded.  Although they do take reservations, which are strongly recommended for Fri and Sat.  The food here is EXCELLENT!!!  My wife's favorite.  BYOB, so you can enjoy your favorite wine and not have to pay restaurant prices.  Bring a good wine to enjoy with their awesome food.   The only way I can describe the food is Asian-American Fusion... But REALLY GOOD Asian, not Chinese take-out.  They use recipes and ingredients with influences from SE Asia, combining with traditional American fare.  Things you might first think don't go together DO... fabulously!  They season everything PERFECTLY.  I've never had a dish I didn't like, and I'm not an adventurous foodie.  Not too expensive, but not cheap.  The prices reflect value of the quality of the food, careful preparation, presentation, and cozy atmosphere.  Can't say enough good things about Zakes!

You can always rely on having a great experience at Zake's.  The food is always amazing with wonderful service and atmosphere.
