Being an older person experiencing a storage unit rental for the first time, I was delighted to have Christian at A-1 help me through the process. He explained the documents, took my money cheerfully, ;-) escorted me to the unit, held the cart as I offloaded, and walked me through the locking process. He was a HUGE help, and I am grateful! Well done, Christian! Well done, A-1 Storage!

They increased my rent from $95 to $104 after only four months. Avoid at all costs. This represents an increase in rent of 9.47% after only being a tenant for four months. Their letter states 'we must periodically adjust rates to offset the increasing costs for maintenance, taxes, insurance and utilities. As a result, your monthly rental rate beginning 7/26/2017 will be $104." I have talked with the employees at this location and they state that the owners of this facility own approximately 50 storage facilities across the country. An increase in operating costs of 9.74% in one year (it was really four months but let's be fair and say one year) is nearly impossible unless the property was sold and the property taxes increased because the property was reassessed. Maintenance, insurance and utilities expenses are highly predictable, especially if you own 50+ storage facilities. Secondly, I do not for one minute believe that a management team that owns 50 storage facilities does not possess the ability to predict costs to avoid an increase of rent in 9.74% in such a short time period. Such behavior to me can be nothing more than opportunistic. In other words, they ARE savvy enough to know that once you spend time moving your goods to a storage unit that you are a captive audience with a large sunk cost and you are unlikely to move. I despise such bait and switch tactics and this type of greedy behavior is repugnant. I understand business and I understand that businesses need to make a profit and I wholly appreciate their role in our economy. I do not, however, respect such opportunistic and greedy behavior when such a wealth family preys on honest, hard working people in our society. If you prefer being pilfered and financially raped by a rich family with a net worth that is likely far north of $100 Million, then go ahead and get a unit here. Otherwise, spend your hard earned money elsewhere. 6/24/2017 Update: Their response states "We, like most storage companies, move in customers at discounted rates. We therefore review those rates and sometimes make adjustments accordingly. Typically a rate increase is effective at 6 months, and you receive a 60 day notice beforehand." I was NEVER told this up-front. As my initial review states, their behavior is clearly opportunistic. Why not let people know up-front that the rate is a discounted rate? They didn't. Secondly, their letter clearly states: "Reluctantly, we must periodically adjust rates to offset the increasing costs for maintenance, taxes, insurance and utilities." NOWHERE in the letter does it state '"we moved you in the unit at a discounted rate and will now increase rates to..." So while their response seems appropriate and reasonable, they do one thing and say another. Again, if you want to be lied to and duped by an incredibly wealthy family, then be my guest and get a unit here. If you prefer not to be abused, violated and lied to then go elsewhere.

Excellent customer service. I've never had any problems with the front office. If I need to rent a storage unit again, I'll come here first.

Horrible. I was given an incorrect gate code but I had to move my stuff since I had a flight at 7 AM the next morning. I called the emergency number and they said they would get back to me. I was able to get in when someone else did but I was locked inside for 2 hours with no help from these people. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had, I will never return to this storage facility again. Don't go here after the office is closed unless you want to spend your night locked inside the facility. Their response to all my calls is that the three people who are supposed to be on call are not responding so you'll have to leave your vehicle and go if it hits 10 which would be fine if I didn't have a rental. Luckily I found a girl who gave me her gate code so I could leave, no thanks to A1. Seriously you guys shouldn't even call yourself A1 because that is not what you are.

Something is always dirty and broken something or other. Out of town,seat covers and towels. They allowed trash strewn all in a trail for like a week let a uhaul stay all night in the yard and gave me a hard time for parking too long because I miss placed my key & waited on my SO to show up with the spare, he's a mover & was on a job.
