Your only option in the city of Chicago for the best/top tier attorney to represent tenants is Aaron Krolik.  Aaron listens, empathizes, and is the premier subject matter expert in real estate and tenant law.
So often everything favors on the side of the landlord, but Aaron's trust in you as a client allows him to ensure that you are not being taking advantage of.  This is rare in this day & age and coming from an attorney.  I'm so grateful to the effort that Aaron put into my case, and just like the rest of his reviews… you will see a successful outcome.  100% recommend.

I had a perfectly fine relationship with my landlord of 3 years -- until I moved out and he paid me less than half of my security deposit. My landlord had used the money for minor wear and tear, including painting the apartment and replacing a light fixture that had never worked since I moved in. He also failed to provide itemized receipts for what these repairs cost. 

After reading his reviews, I contacted Aaron to see what my options were. He asked me to send him a copy of the letter from my landlord as well as a copy of my lease. He got back to me almost immediately and said I had a great case. In addition to what I mentioned above, it turns out my landlord also hadn't paid interest on my security deposit, the penalty for which is twice the amount of the security deposit. In his defense, after I sent my landlord a letter, he offered to pay me half the remainder of the security deposit, but it was too little too late -- and if he had been willing to do that in the first place, why not just send that amount from the beginning? The whole thing felt dishonest on his part, which is why I'm glad I contacted Aaron.

Aaron emailed me often to keep me informed of how the process was going. We didn't go to court since my landlord basically had no case, and the whole thing was settled in about two months. I ended up with an amount that was more than fair without gouging my landlord, and Aaron was able to get his fees from the landlord as well. The only thing I paid out of pocket was the fee to file the lawsuit, which I gained back more than threefold when the lawsuit was settled. 

If you have any kind of problem similar to mine, don't hesitate to contact Aaron. The whole process of filing a lawsuit was stressful and annoying, but these things are sometimes necessary to get what you deserve. Aaron took the reigns and basically dealt with it all himself -- making things much easier on me.

Aaron Krolik is a game-changer.  He is sharp, dedicated, incisive, and the consummate professional.  He's also a pleasure to work with, and his creativity and hard work were a huge asset for me.  If you have a landlord-tenant dispute, this is the only call you need to make!

I called Aaron yesterday seeking his help to get out of my apartment building without any financial reprocussions and he told me to email him a copy of my lease and he would read it over and get back to me . So I immediately did as such at 1:04pm. I gave him time to look over the lease and didn't hear back from him until I called him the next day which he asked me what I wanted to do and I was explaining my situation with him and he told me "all you're doing is whining " . I immediately in shock and asked him why he would speak to a potential client in that manner and he then goes on to say "I don't think I'm going to be able to help you" Yeah I didnt want your "professional" help after that anyway. What "professional" says that to a potential client?! My "whining" was valid complains to my STORY that leaves me eligibile to SUE. You unprofessional jerk.  Take your money and time and go elsewhere . This guy doesn't care about anything but being a condescending prick.

I did not refuse to let you talk I was explaining my situation to you and as a professional attorney you should listen to your clients story to get all the information about the case. Everything I said was relevant to the case . If you had ideas you could have politely explained them when I stopped talking to give you a chance to respond instead of saying "I'm whining " you should have replaced the negative comment with a positive one .

Aaron has helped to retrieve my security deposit twice in 6 years.  In my most recent experience my former landlord not only unjustly kept my deposit but tried to charge me an additional $1400 for all new carpeting. He sent me an estimate for the carpeting several months after the lease ended. 
Aaron did an awesome job! Everything went smoothly and we were able to handle everything via email. In the settlement I got back even more than my security deposit and I was not responsible for any fees. I highly recommend Aaron !
