The vibe and atmosphere nice. At first took a while for our waiter to show up but after that the service was really fast and good! The food was tasty and delicious and well presented! The only down side was the glasses were not really clean, plates were chipped! We found flies inside around the table and splash of food stuck on glass! So wish it was cleaner and better like the food.
On our last special trip to Port Townsend we dedicated our Friday evening to check out Alchemy. I am happy to report it didn't let us down in any way. Starting with the crab tots and oysters on the half shell, a great wine selection and amazing, friendly staff. Dinner was amazing.... Crab bacon fettuccine Alfredo and for me Duck three ways, yum, wow! Highly recommend it!
The food was delicious and so were the cocktails. They were able to get us in last-minute which we were very grateful for given it was the holiday weekend. Price-wise, it was a little spendy but not bad. The drink prices reflected LA vs. PT given the other places we went to. Still a great meal and worth a try for a perfectly cooked steak!
Chef Adam brings his years of experience to lovely Port Townsend. The only fine dining in town. Food is great and the prices are incredibly reasonable. Reservation is strongly recommended for the weekends and during the summer.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
Amazing dinner with equally amazing service here. Could not give our experience too many compliments The special of the day, seared tuna salade niçoise, was the perfect light but satisfying dinner option - earthy arguala, soft veggies, meaty tuna and zesty cherry tomatoes worked perfectly together. The popular choice dungeness crab and bacon fettuccine was truly decadent and post-meal snooze worthy. And the filet mignon - wow! Never have I had a medium rare steak so perfectly tender. The half dozen oysters were small and very flavorful and the sauces+lemon+tabasco were all good pairings. Glass of house wine was truly excellent and came in a very generous sized portion too. And who can say no to complimentary sourdough baguette slices with butter? To finish it off, a zesty and boozy cake bottomed lemon mousse. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable and all his recommendations were excellent. Definitely worth coming to if you're in Port Townsend! Pst- Make a reservation ahead of time easily online!
Always loved Alchemy and now with new chef/owner Adam, after last nights dinner it may be my favorite restaurant on the peninsula. Everything was perfect, delicious and unique. Fresh off a food crazed Vegas trip eating at some of the best restaurants in the US, we were shocked last night at the resemblance of that “perfect” experience we had just had in Vegas. The wagyu ribeye is amazing. The menu says no sauce needed, and I agree. Anything added would take away. The scallops were cooked better than any I’ve ever had. The other esters delicious and clean, steak tartare was one of the best I’ve had. Dessert was delicious and light, the poached pear is insane. Being bored of the same cycle of 4-6 decent PA restaurants, I foresee many return trips to PT. I want to try the entire menu.
We popped for brunch on a flying visit to Port Townsend and we were very impressed by this hard-working bistro. A complementary bottle of Aqua Panna on every table, a complementary fruit plate, and an elevated menu. My Beef Benedict featured the expected poached eggs, hollandaise, and muffin, and also added two melt-in-your-mouth peppery sirloin steaks - delicious! My partner had the Crab Benedict - also delicious!
Alchemy has a new owner/chef, same great atmosphere. Wonderful food choices. I make a serious effort to take family and friends on my multiple visits each year to Port Townsend from Oakland CA. The Black Manhattan served up by the Barista was one of the best drinks I've ever had, and I've had a lot! Did I say I love the location next to the steps and fountain!
Dungeness crab balls are meaty but need some more season to accentuate the crab. Ordered the oyster and they were nice but served at room temp. Not what I was expecting.
To be fair, this restaurant is as short-staffed as are so many others both in and out of the kitchen so we were pleasantly surprised at most of the food that arrived. The mussels were rather large and just a tad undercooked but hey, they were BIG so no fault there. The seafood creole was tasty with just a hint of spice and gobbled down quickly so we were all in total agreement with the earlier reviews. That said, a few stars got dinged for the steak strip sandwich which was advertised by two waitresses as "thinly sliced" pieces of tenderloin with an au jus in which to dip the sandwich. But here I would advise passing on the sandwich, one which arrived with big chunks of rather tough meat and a watered-down au jus. The waitress apologized and offered a free dessert to make up for the meal and offered to box up the rest but forgot to do so and thus another star vanished. Perhaps we hit a bad night, even if it wasn't that busy; and to be fair, we didn't mind having to ask 4 times to get more water we were used to it since restaurants were indeed having trouble finding good or any help. Our bill arrived and had to be taken back for a few corrections waitress apologizing again. When she returned another wait to pick up our payment, we asked about the to-go boxes we requested for our uneaten portions but she admitted that she had completely forgotten but that if we could wait she could have some additional items prepared uh, no thank you. So bottom line, we knew that we had hit a bad night but we felt that perhaps the manager or someone could have emerged to try and correct the misunderstanding; alas, nobody appeared. The chef may have been new, the waitress the same; but it did put a damper on what seems an otherwise highly positive place...hey, it happens. Times are tough and places are struggling...just avoid the steak strip sandwich.
