This is a hidden Alabama gem. I was born and raised here and had no idea this existed. The live animal show was fun and informative. The exhibits are clean and tastefully done. They even have Egyptian mummies! Who knew?? Nice, shady grounds with picnic tables if you want to pack a lunch. My only suggestion would be to hire a PR person and get the word out about this place! Offer summer camps perhaps?? Definitely get into Birmingham Parents magazine. People (in Alabama especially) should know this place exists. Great little day trip for kids and adults alike.

I remember coming here as a kid and enjoy taking my son here now. It has held up well. They are currently doing some renovations to the entrance but the exhibits are still great!

Delightful museum with playground and picnic area nearby. Pack a picnic lunch and let your kids enjoy the playground after touring the museum.
