Probably should’ve had a reservation.. but they seated us quickly and immediately welcomed us with a complementary appetizer. Diane was a wonderful waitress, making us feel at home and welcomed to stay as long as we liked. The homemade sangria was refreshing and delightful with our entrees of gnocchi and linguini scampi. The atmosphere was so cozy and intimate, with a staff that genuinely cared for their guests like family
This is a small restaurant. The atmosphere was very warming and had a family feel to it. They were very knowledgeable about the wines and sangria's that they offered. The daily special was duck with an orange sauce over a bit of black rice. It was cooked perfectly. For a starter a mixture of Summer vegetables with tomatoes and onions to go with the bread which was very good. Then I tried the rice balls which were a very large helping for one person but they were very good and the sauce went great with the bread. They had several summer fruits desserts along with cheesecake. But I went with the tiramisu which was excellent.
Wonderful Italian restaurant! We tried the calamari which was very good, crisp and flavorful. The pasta dishes were very good and the pasta was freshly made. Equally as good were the desserts. I definitely recommend this restaurant in Winchester.
Celebrated my birthday here, and what a special celebration it was. Our table was ready and waiting for us with a special starter waiting for us on the table. We had a personalized touch to every phase of our meal, including a special request salad for my picky Eater, and three plates of buttered noodles for all three of my picky eaters! :- The food was top-notch. Reminded me exactly of dishes I had in Italy, down to the detail of my salmon being diced in my entree rather than a fillet on top of the pasta. They are kind, incredible chefs, great staff, lovely environment. Top-notch experience all around!
We’ve walk by this restaurant at least twice per week for two years. Finally, we made reservations. It was absolutely amazing. It’s now going to be our go to restaurant. The jardiniere was the perfect start. The pasta dishes were phenomenal. The sangria was lovely. The service was timely and professional. It would have been nice to have fresh, local tomatoes for the caprese salad, rather than refrigerated ones. Overall, it was lovely.
This is a upscale restaurant, not some pizza and pasta place! Very friendly, extended family run, authentic, Italian experience. When my wife requested something not on the menu, immediate "of course!". The entrees were excellent, from seafood to veal. Recommended for a special night out.
Went for the first time tonight! Coffee and sangria were probably the best I’ve ever had.Service was on point. The owner was extremely welcoming and the effort made in both service and quality was definitely !
Amazing, authentic Italian food. Staff was amazing. The owner I think was very attentive and provided a fun experience. The pasta was outstanding. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Synopsis White table cloth restaurant, serving very good food, using fresh ingredients in simple recipes that are skillfully prepared, attractively plated, and served by friendly and attentive staff. Full Detail I dined at Antica Trattoria on November 13, 2021 early in the evening. In Winchester for an event later that night GPS was essential for finding this destination location restaurant tucked away in a tight alley having limited parking. Cars were parked right up to the front door. Despite the cramped physical circumstance the restaurant had inviting curb appeal. Approaching the restaurant you can see the brightly lit dining room through sparkling windows having two plant boxes on the exterior window sills, earth tone window frames, awning and sign above the awning in gold letters. Walking in the vibe is fine dining. White table cloths, white linen napkins, candle and a single fresh cut rose in a carafe on table tops. A couple old brick columns in the dining room, old brick floor and heavy dark oak chairs contrast with the white table cloths and the bright lighting make the place pop visually. Normally, dining by myself I like bar seating but the bar was closed to seating. Seated at a table, the charming server, Diane, promptly greeted me and I immediately asked for a Negroni. I was stunned that she, nor the bartender, knew what a Negroni is. We established the bar was outfitted with all the ingredients to make one and I walked her through my recipe; 1 shot gin, 1/2 shot Campari, 1/4 shot sweet vermouth, stir on rocks, strain into a rocks glass and garnish with an orange peel. Shortly, the drink arrived. Other than having an orange wedge rather than a peel it was a perfectly mixed Negroni. Ingredients were fresh for all that I ordered and dishes were artfully plated and served. Pescatora Risotto I ordered was very good but not full flavored and I enjoyed the pinot noir I paired with it. The dessert, on the other hand, was sensational. Special desserts were offered on a display platter, not on a written menu. Described to me as cheesecake by Diane I think my choice was closer to being vanilla cake having ricotta cheese in the crumb. The cake was fresh, perfectly moist and bursting with flavor. I had a shot of espresso and shot of Kahlúa with the cake.
My wife and I found this wonderful Italian trattoria in an alley behind Loudon Street the main drag in Old Town Winchester called Antica. It’s owned by a family originally from Staten Island, NY via Naples. Excellent southern Italian cuisine. The chef’s special pasta with seafood was sensational; it consisted of homemade fusilli with mussels, monkfish, zucchini and tomatoes in a clear broth. My wife enjoyed the mushroom ravioli in red sauce. For dessert, we split a slice of flourless chocolate almond cake, which was awesome. Our server, who hails from Palermo, Sicily, was very friendly and knowledgeable. This place could certainly pass muster back in the Garden State! A diamond in the rough!
