Fantastic! The staff was very attentive and friendly. Everyone genuinely seemed to enjoy their job. You can definitely tell this establishment values their employees. The violinist was remarkable! She played very well and was so very elegant. The meal was, by far, the best I've had in years anywhere that I've traveled and definitely the best in Winchester. The kitchen staff, from what I could see, worked well together. They almost appeared to be in a choreographed dance. The quality of our meal was stellar and the portion size was an extreme value. This chef has definitely won our hearts and taste buds! Gordon Ramsey watch out! Thank you so much for a lovely dining experience! We definitely will be back!
Wonderful experience. You can feel the family love for what they do. We were surprised by the personal serenade for our anniversary! Pictured you made our night! The violin. The food, top notch with unexpected entrees, I love having new dishes to try.
If you’re looking for an old-school feel and personalized service, this is the spot! The decor makes you feel like you’re in Italy, and the service, from start to finish, was top notch. The food is delicious and the menu is authentic.
I write this in hopes the Chef will read it and make the changes necessary. Bottom line upfront: It is dissapointing and disturbing Violino is charging the prices they are for the quality of food they are serving. Although the atmosphere and service is great, the food is horrible, both in taste and display.See photos I lived in Italy and have eaten at Michelin Star restaurants throughout the world, as well as mom and pop dive restaurants with great food.. I enjoy good food, Violino's does not even come close to being good. Appetizer: The meat curtains. Horrible presentation. It looks like my 7 year old plated the dish. The prosciutto was chewy and the other meat boar, venison, beef had a lemon zest drizzle on top that is not appropriate on the meat served... The meat curtains draping from a cheap glass bowl is just wrong. Main Course: The veal seemed processed and was not good quality. The marsala dressing tasted more like Chinese Teriyaki. The "imported" mushrooms were from a can. The potatoes were undercooked and crunchy. Artichoke Soup: Just gross and to top it off the rice was crunchy. Other main course: The veal once again was processed and hiding under a disgusting piece of ham and cheese. The 2 worst parts were the overcooked "cheap" "boxed" noodles, that were presented coming out of a small pumpkin, as if the pumpkin was throwing up the noodles. And again, the mushrooms were disgusting, squishy and watery, those found in a can. To top if off, there was a Western Red Arborvitae twig as a decoration. For one, although they are edible, they have no place on the dish with veal. It is embarrassing that people consider the food here good, and or authentic. Oh.. and the breadsticks are laughable. So with the Cons, there are some pros: Service - friendly Atmosphere quaint and with a live violinist playing. Olive oil was fresh and tasty. Beer- Peroni in a bottle, served with an appropriate glass. Final bill: $131.50 Tip: $25 Total: $156.50 for 2 people Do not waste your money until the chef turns this place around. The restaurant claims everything is homemade by the chef. I cry foul, and if it is, he needs to find a new profession. If you do waste your money, and have never lived in Italy, do not post and mislead others as this place being authentic. This location has so much potential, unfortunately it feels like the chef just gave up.
Great small, family Italian restaurant 'ristorante' with a local flavor. Highly recommend! Parking: Street parking is free after 6pm.
Had an amazing Anniversary dinner at Violino. A family involved restaurant that has been in business for 26 years. Food, drinks and the entire staff was the best. The father who started the business came out with white peach prosecco and sang to us. What really floored us was anonymous customer paid our entire bill. We couldn't believe it. Thank you Violino for an amazing evening and thank you to generous person who paid for it.
This was an amazing dinner experience. My husband and I visited from out of town and we were treated well. The waitress was very kind and helpful with questions about the menu items
We have been eating at Violino’s for seven years, since we moved here. Never had a bad meal; until tonight. My filet had definitely been frozen and thawed. So disappointed! Seriously doubt that I will return.
Tirimisu was amazing. Customer service was great. But the rest was meh. I got a chicken pasta with some kind of cream sauce entre and the pasta was so overdone it was almost mush, and there was next to nothing flavor wise going on. The sauce may as well have been chicken broth, cream, and a breath of garlic blown in the general direction. The bread they brought out before the meal was also not awesome. The foccacia may have been good if it wasn't insanely dry even with olive oil. The bread sticks were rock solid. I won't be trying this again.
This is hands-down the best restaurant in Winchester! If you like fresh, home made, authentic Italian cuisine, then look no further! The calamari is the best I’ve ever had anywhere! The mussels are excellent, and the rest of the menu both looks & tastes gourmet! The restaurant is also owned & operated by the Stocco family. Marcella co-owner in particular will recommend a perfect wine pairing if in doubt, try the Cesanase [chae-sah-NAE-say]. Also, all four of the Stoccos will make you feel at home. P.S.: dress well! THIS is fine dining…
