I had an unpleasant experience at ARA. Initially Casey was pleasant and seemed well intentioned and willing to help me solve the issue I was having with my vehicle - trouble starting in weather below 10 degrees. I left my vehicle over the weekend, the weather warmed up, and the problem no longer presented itself. I received a phone call from Casey on Monday, and he said there was nothing else they could do since all appeared well.

When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, I was shocked to be presented with a bill of $184.06, since no work was done on the vehicle. I was told this was the cost of inspection and scanning the vehicle’s engine control module (ECM). From previous experience, many local auto parts stores or shops will offer ECM scans free of charge. After some discussion, Casey became visibly irritated and stubbornly said that the bill was non-negotiable and that if I did not pay the bill, he would not give me the keys to my own vehicle.

Overall, my interactions with Casey were not personable, and I felt disrespected. When I mentioned I’d be leaving a detailed review of our interactions he explicitly said to not threaten him with social media. I cannot speak to the quality of work done by the technicians, but simply the lack of customer service would be enough to warrant me never recommending this shop to anyone.

Casey & his staff just saved me a lot of money. I didn't have a regular mechanic because it's been a while since I've owned a car that needed any work. Casey has an excellent reputation among professionals, so I decided to use ARA to inspect any car I might be interested in buying. I found what I thought *might* be a good vehicle, but I had my concerns. Casey and his staff went over the vehicle carefully and also pulled some records I hadn't been able to access on my own. Long story short, $100 for an inspection uncovered the problems I suspected, and some others besides. Moreover, and very important to me, Casey and staff treated me with respect, quickly understood that I know something about cars and had done my homework, and proceeded accordingly. As a woman, I really, really appreciate that. ARA is my new regular garage.

My car has served me well for over 50,000 miles. It was the first and only car I looked at. Yesterday it hit 150,000 miles. I knew exactly what car I wanted before I looked at and test drove it in 2010 when I got it with the help of a PASS Plan. I want to thank a few people now for their help back then. Stephanie Drum of Employment Resources Incorporated believed in me and saw that I had a viable business, Jon Pfeiffer Photography. She put together and helped me complete my PASS Plan between 2008 and 2010. Lexy Frautschy, then a manager at Ian's On State interviewed and hired me in early 2008. I began working there on February 23th of that year. I bussed tables, washed dishes, took the trash out, cleaned bathrooms, shoveled snow and did construction there during the three years I worked there. Lance Owens of WORC helped me start my business which officially happened in April of 2008. He helped me build build Jon Pfeiffer Photography while Stephanie told me about and put together the plan. Lance Owens went along on my test drive with the owner. It was a 5-speed because I would not own a car with an automatic transmission. I never have and never will. I did well considering I had not driven a car with a real transmission since that bad day in May of 1999. Shannel Trudeau-Yancey of Progressive Community Services helped me get the help of DVR to obtain some of the equipment I needed for my business. Cliff Wolllin of Wisconsin DVR approved my self employment plan and with that, I got some of the equipment needed to start my business. While working at Ian's, Lance submitted some of my photography to the Overture Center resulting in seven of my photographs being displayed there in Gallery II in the fall of 2009. Cliff got DVR to pay for my display for which I am still thankful.
In January of 2010, Shaun at ARA of Madison went for a test drive with me and said "Nice car, Pfeif" so I purchased it. With a great people working on it like Shaun and Casey at ARA Auto, Mike's crew at M&M Auto Body and the Paul's people at AMS, it continues to look and run like a car half it's age. I love my car.

I don't get the negative reviews here.  We used to have our boat's annual service here, and it was 1/4 what Skipper Bud's cost.  They worked on my Mini and Ford Expedition for years, and they're always cost conscious, fast, and good.  I've got a Porsche now, and Casey did a lot of research gratis to figure out service requirements.

Fantastic experience!

Casey and his staff are exceptional. I had some issues with my breaks and he was able to diagnose the root cause and find a long-term and afforable solution. Turn around time was even more impressive. I would highly recommend taking any issues you may have to ARA.
