Story

We at Area Four believe that great food comes from great ingredients, and those products that are raised and harvested locally, in a sustainable manner, will not only taste better, but will also be better for the environment, the local economy and our health.

We believe that it is important to know where our food comes from, to be comfortable knowing that we can trust what we cook, serve and eat. We also believe that our children should have the opportunity to enjoy these foods for generations to come while learning the importance of preserving local farms, ranches and fishing grounds.

Without the contributions of producers who are as passionate about what they do as we are about what we do, we would be a much inferior restaurant. In a show of support, appreciation and awe, we proudly present some of the farms, ranches, seafood purveyors and artisanal producers who everyday help make us a better restaurant group.

Cafe is very nice. I only give 4 stars because there is no place to sit in the cafe without being in the draft of the cold air whenever the door opens. And it is so busy the doors opens every few seconds. So i didn't like sitting inside and being cold (it was -5°C outside).

My family has been coming here for a long time, and there's definitely a reason for it. The food here comes in huge portions at very reasonable prices for what you get.

I've been to Area Four twice. The first time we got there as the kitchen closed but the bartender took us and poured some kick ass drinks for us. We were impressed with his enthusiasm and had a great conversation with him. The second time we returned to try and experience the pizza that everyone raves about. The food itself was really great. Unfortunately we were aggressively rushed out the door by our waitress.

Whoever came up with this idea is a genius: hot coffee and pastries by day and pizza by night. You can spend all your waking hours here if you so desired. :) Bonus for giant cookies and wood-burning ovens. Kudos for vegetarian options and delicious side dishes. Five stars for both the idea and the execution.

Area Four is number 1 in the illustrious Technology hub found in quaint Cambridge, MA. Great little eatery that has a fairly trim menu, which allows them to focus on quality & flavor. Some attractive small plates, wood fired pizza, & assorted entrees adorn the list of offerings. Of course, they have a small, but nice selection of craft beer that pair nicely with your favorite plate. I was fortunate to be in town for business for a few days, down by Kendal Square recently & decided I need a pizza fix. When I Googled the local area a few places made my short list, but after further discussion with a colleague, my attention was drawn to Area Four. During me initial visit I found the atmosphere to be bustling, but comfortable during the mid week dinner rush. Flying solo, I opted to sit at the bar & get acquainted with the tap offerings. My first selection was Rhode Island’s Proclamation IPA. Very familiar with the West Kingstown microbrewery start up, I was immediately pleased to find some local flavor. For dinner, the wood fired pizza was an obvious choice. Being a fan of anchovies, I set my sights on the small White Anchovy pizza for $16.00. Aside from the San Marzano tomato based sauce & Mozzarella cheese, the pizza was adorned with the requisite anchovies, green olives, capers, pecorino, & parsley. A lover of anchovies would appreciate this pizza, but folks who only mildly appreciate anchovies, would probably find this selection a bit offensive. I myself love anchovies, & appreciated the salty pungent attitude that this pizza delivers. The crust was just as expected of a wood fired pizza. Chewy with a nice char & very complimentary to the fresh house made sauce. A wonderful delivery receptacle for a great selection of toppings. The small pizza at $16.00, was an average sized pizza & perfect for one hungry fella or two picky folks who wish to supplement their drinking endeavors with a tasty bite. Overall, I was very pleased with Area Four & have gone on to recommend. I know I’ll back when opportunity presents itself.
