I visited AZ Pain Specialist due to a back injury. I went through all the medical procedures that were recommended by AZ Pain Specialist and/or my insurance company. I spent thousands of dollars and had no back relief, therefore opted to see a surgeon. Dr. Jack Anderson was kind enough to refer me to a great surgeon and I scheduled my surgery way in advance on Nov.18, 2015 because I was leaving town for the summer. However, the new surgeon does not prescribe medication for chronic back pain therefore my daily pain care still is being treated by AZ Pain Specialist. I ran out of pain medication while in Maui for the summer. I called the office to have my medication refilled shortly after I arrived in Maui due to a minor injury causing more pain then usual. I got resistance from the office because they hadn't seen me in awhile. (I have been seeing the surgeon). I explained the situation and that I was out of town for the summer and made an appointment with them on my return to AZ for my surgery. They refilled it for 30 days. I was still in pain after 30 days, so I asked for another refill. I spoke to a lady (seemed to be irritated with me) and asked her to explain to the doctor about the situation and that I am out of town for 4 months not 30 days. She said she would and return my call. (Never got a call) Weeks later, called again and spoke to another lady and explained the situation and said she would call me back after talking to the doctor. (Never got a return call) I called the pharmacy and asked for a refill. After several weeks Longs Drugs called me back (yes, even to say they hadn't got a response from the doctor. Thanks Longs/CVS drugs for at least following up) Shortly, afterwards Longs called to say it was denied. I called the office again, and explained the situation and they transferred me to the back office for the 3rd time to speak to doctors nurses and got a voicemail. I left a message explaining the situation and asked for a call back. (Today, is the 3rd day and still have not heard from the office although their voice recorder says I will get a call back the same day) Over the last year, this is only my third requested refill. So, I am not abusing the medication and don't even think it is considered a narcotic. Now, I must visit a physician in Maui to explain that my back still hurts due to a bulging disc that I have scheduled to have fixed in a few months. This will cost me more money, time and suffering. I am more disappointed to the fact that this is a professional establishment and they cannot even bother to return a call. Dr. Jack Anderson is a good doctor but he definitely needs better help in the back office.
