School history: Arredondo Elementary opened in 1972. Classes started temporarily at Rural and Evans, because the new building wasn’t finished until November. The school’s name honors longtime Tempe residents Alejandro and Josefa Arredondo. Mrs. Arredondo worked in Tempe Elementary cafeterias. All six of her sons have worked in education.
