Trying to rent a car from Avis / Budget Car Rental (located inside Sears in Mishawaka, IN) was a HORRIFIC experience. After being given totally inaccurate information over the phone the day before (I was told that all fees and charges were included in the charge I was quoted during the phone reservation), extra fees in access of $200.00 were added upon my arrival to pick up the rental. Plus they tried to charge a $150.00 cancellation fee -which really was supposed to be a "no show" fee according to the website. Now even if the clerk had a bad day and forgot to give the right info, I asked detailed questions about what insurance information would be needed and was told all I needed was a driver's license and a credit card. Add to this the manager's inability to refund my reservation money due to poor communication about additional fees and services-this was the worse car rental experience ever. The manager kept saying ,"There's nothing I can do...I'm just an independent agent. Corporate makes the rules and I don't have any thing to do with the reservation." Well that's strange, if corporate sent you the business you definitely have some responsibility in clearing up the mess that was made -and blaming it all on "corporate" sounded like an excuse. All in all, it seemed like this guy was just finding reason after reason to put more money in his pocket over and above the price of the rental. FOLKS SAVE YOUR SELVES THE TROUBLE and choose any other car rental service -this one is shady!🕶

First of all, the staff at Mishawaka were great. They are respectful and helpful. Granted, there were a couple of problems. It was nearly impossible to ever get them on the phone since they are hugely overworked, and this forced me to call again and again and again to get necessary information from them during my trip. They also made a mistake with my paperwork and raised concerns that potentially I had turned the car in to the wrong person and that the car had been stolen when in fact I'd turned it in and they had just rented it out to someone else. This was a scary and disastrous simple administrative error, but I don't hold it against them, since, again, they're clearly far too busy. They're too busy because Avis is a horrific company. Clearly, everyone on their phones and at the locations is hideously overworked. There aren't enough staff. It's cheap because it's bad quality and the company doesn't care about normal people. The company makes $327 million in profit by completely disregarding customers with terrible service. YOU ARE WARNED.

A very frustrating experience, both picking up and dropping off. This location is understaffed. When returning my car, I stood at the front desk for twenty minutes before I was able to track down the lady who works here. She was the only employee on duty, so she was responsible for cleaning cars as well as working the front desk. It's unbelievable that the manager of this location would have a single person doing all of this, especially as this means that for long periods of time no one is "minding the store" and sitting at the desk. Picking up the car was equally frustrating, as the lovely, kind woman working the desk was completely overwhelmed and undertrained. I was the only one in line, and it took her 45 minutes to process my check-out. She kept calling her supervisor on the phone and he, presumably, just answered her questions one by one one instead of coming over and assisting in person.

I set out for a mini road trip to Indianapolis to see a friend and go to a concert – since my car is not in the best of shape to make that long drive, I rented a car for the first time with Avis. I had such a great experience with my rental that I wanted to extend my rental for another week ”just because”! It was easy as pie to book online, I applied my discounts and the rate was phenomenal for a weekly rental! The ease of picking up the car was smooth, the Avis rep was very friendly and helpful and I was on my way. The car drove great and the return of the car was just as simple as the pick-up. I would definitely recommend Avis for your personal or business car rental! I can’t wait until my road trip next summer – I will be renting again from Avis!

The staff was extremely helpful, polite, and friendly. Car was ready on time, very clean and worked great for our vacation. I was completely satisfied.
