If you like old places, you'll love this inn!....Away from highways, quiet, peaceful, full of bird-song! The Chef is not to be outdone!...Plan to eat here at least once if you're here for a weekend!...We enjoyed a nice evening of bluegrass music when we stayed there. I'm going back during warmer weather so I can sit out on the porch in their rocking chairs and just waste time!....This is an old-fashioned inn, so don't expect hot tubs...but the atmosphere is of another time and place....pure enjoyment!

I and my family have always enjoyed our stays there! So laid back and friendly and we love that big front porch! We have always had a shower and comfortable beds. The dining has always been very good and we are anxious to try your new chef and staff!!

Loved this place! Quaint. Different. Southernly hospitable! Yes, it's old. It's awesome! We got a room with 2 double beds and a bathroom with a shower. The room radiators put out a lot of heat during the winter nights. Open the window above the interior doors to vent. The restaurant served an impeccable dinner for 2 for roughly $100 WITH drinks. Pistachio encrusted trout is a MUST. The FREE breakfast was either scrambled eggs or French Toast or BOTH. True southern grits, bacon and some fruit included song with cereals, juices, and coffee. The front desk offers local beers and wine while staffed. The library has full time teas and coffee. Plenty of guests meander on the wrap-around porch or in the "lobby" area. Social and fun! Romantic getaway or just a darling place to stay. This is it!

I read others writing "the room was hard to deal with". I feel exactly the opposite. Despite the fact that yes the place is historic and thus old, the room was super clean, the bed was fresh and with great bedding for a cool mountain night. I felt taken back in to a time in which I hadn't even been around. The floors squeaked just a little bit but other parties in other rooms were not to hear. In fact, the hotel was super quiet. I felt as cozy and welcome as possible and wondered by myself why I don't stay at these type of places more often when on business trips. I slept just like at home which I usually don't when (on about 40 other nights a year) in Hampton Ins or Sheraton's. On top, the included breakfast was great. I will stay here again any time.

This turn of the century inn, built in 1905, has beautiful charm and ambiance. The rooms are quaint, and may be considered small by some, but you have to remember this place is from a different era. No TVs, and slow internet... but that's because it's nestled 3500 feet up, in the Great Smoky Mountains. A wonderful restaurant, the food was delicious, the staff was extremely friendly, and a wonderful menu. The place was clean, and although I live close by this is a new getaway for my wife and I. I can't recommend this place enough. Just set your expectations accordingly for what you are going to! :)
