The staff and doctors warmly greet me and my pets when I arrive and make me feel comfortable immediately. The receptionists and doctors gather all the information quickly and thoroughly and if I do not quite understand or have any questions about my pets, they patiently listen to my concerns and provide me with all I need to know. I can always quickly reach them at the hospital or after hours when I've had an emergency and that has helped my pets many times over the last 27 years. Bay Road Animal Hospital is the very best animal hospital on all levels of care - professionally and personally and my friends take their pets to Bay Road also... Sunny L

I called on a Monday morning to get an appointment for my pet cockatiel, who was already very sick. This was my first experience with having a sick bird. I did not realize how dire the situation can become very quickly, since birds hide their illness so well. When I called, I explained that my bird seemed to have a flu, and that I was hoping for an appointment that morning (I had already arranged to arrive late to work). They could not fit me in until 4:00. When I got there, I waited over 45 minutes, with my bird in his carrier without any water. Once Dr. Smith was able to see me, he told me that my bird was very sick and had already lost a lot of weight. He prescribed antibiotics, and told me that the chances of him surviving were not good. They charged $75 for the exam that took 5 minutes, and another $52 for the medication. My bird died the next day. Should a vet charge such a high price for an exam? (My bird was very easy to examine, barely struggled and did not bite.) I already knew my dear friend was in rough shape, I didn't need to pay $75 to hear that. It was too late to save him. It wasn't Bay Road's fault that our sweet birdie died. Still, overall I was not pleased with how expensive this futile vet trip was. I also felt that an avian vet should squeeze a sick bird in as soon as possible, knowing how quick the decline can be for birds. And lastly, the office staff acted very busy and ignored me for a few minutes while finishing some paperwork, then had me wait 45 minutes after my appointed time. I have two dogs but would never take them to this vet.

My review of Bay Road Animal Hospital and all the employees there is nothing less than a perfect 5-STAR acclaim! I discovered Dr. Smith and his wonderful veterinarian facility over 30 years ago when we moved to Sarasota & I had a dog who lived happily & healthfully past 16. Now with my current dog, I have the pleasure of accessing this group again, and I couldn't be more secure in knowing that all our records are in their computer and all updates for needed exams, shots, meds, appointments, etc. are readily sent to me. Plus the personal attention we get from Dr. Smith and the wonderful staff is top notch!

All very nice and professional. Dr. Smith is an honest Dr. and will do the best for your needs. He's very caring and informative and will give you options and not just do it his way or no way. He feels like you know your pet and will help guide you and your budget on the best way to treat your pet. I have had all my pets there for several years and always very happy with them. Highly recommend them!!!!

Our visit was handled with great care. As busy as the hospital was that day, everyone was taken care of in a professional manner and with loving care. Such wonderful people and they all love our Lizzie and Williston.
