I went to this office the first time a few weeks ago. I am TERRIFIED of dentist due to some bad experiences. From the first visit in the office, my anxiety was diminished. Everyone is so concerned about your dental health and making you feel calm. I ended up having 25 teeth pulled and upper and lower dentures placed, all in the same visit. The procedure went well and I can honestly say I won't be afraid to go to the dentist again. My family has also been impressed with the great staff at the office. If you need dental work or even routine visit, do not hesitate to call Dr. Boeke and the staff at Centerville Family Dental.

I want to start off by saying everyone is extremely nice. I was originally Dr. Freeman’s patient and followed her when she went here. I’ve been twice. I was weary because it had a corporate feel, and I’ve had terrible experiences at past corporate-like dental places. The first visit I had was fine, so I went for the second. At this visit, the hygienist was nice, but it all felt very odd. First she asked about my plaque build up and I explained that’s normal for me, but that I brush, floss, and use a water pick every day. She then said “you’re doing all that work and still have this build up! We need to test the bacteria in your mouth”. So she scrapes a piece of plaque out and takes it to a microscope to analyze. And of course there’s bacteria. She tells me the different types of bacteria she’s concerned about and then takes me back to her station to give me the schpill: 1. I need to buy a special rinse that may or may not clear it up. 2. They’ll send the plaque to my doctor (never mind that it’s already been discarded). They’ll also send it to a lab and I may need oral antibiotics. 3. I need a special cleaning this day. 4. And a water pick is included, which I already have. 5. I would need to come back in 4 weeks and then in 3 months to make sure they got all the bacteria after this rigorous home program with a water pick and rinses. It felt like a sales pitch. She then pulls Dr. Freeman in, who was kind and wonderful (as always - I’ve always really liked her). She basically said there’s some new research and she’s still learning about it. Everything at this office is very high tech and gives better access to new technology for her patients. I told her I didn’t really know what to do, because I literally have had no problems, my gums are fine, and though I didn’t mention it there, I actually have noticed my build up was way less than normal (something I was actually hoping to get praised about this time). I didn’t have any cavities or any other issues. She told the hygienist “why did you test her plaque?” And the hygienist explained her train of thought. Dr. Freeman then said, “well I agree with her, she doesn’t have any cavities and her gums look great, but she does have some build up.” While all this is going on, there’s some other lady, named Amy, whose gone to pull my insurance and I guess she had a sheet that was going to show me what everything was going to cost and maybe what my insurance would and would not cover. I can only assume, because, I never saw that sheet. By then, I was like “I would just like a normal cleaning please.” They complied, and made me sign some release. Throughout the cleaning, the hygienist was very nice but she did make side comments about my gums bleeding and how she’s going to still send my plaque to the doctor because “even though it’s a regular cleaning she’s still concerned.” When I left, I felt like I had heard a sales pitch. I immediately contacted my friend whose a dental hygienist. She said this is the new thing that corporate dentists are doing to sell people deep cleaning. She said if I’m getting my teeth cleaned every 6 months I should not need a deep cleaning. She said bleeding a little is normal when they’re cleaning and scraping my teeth, and should only be a concern if it continues after the cleaning (it didn’t). She said if I want to be abundantly cautious, I can get a second opinion, but that my teeth and gums sound normal and healthy. She said we all have bacteria all over our body and a microscope would show that for skin, etc. Unfortunately, I won’t be back to Bayside. I love Dr. Freeman and I loved her staff when she was on Broadway in Garland. This new office is super nice and fancy, but I don’t feel like I can trust what they tell me. Honestly, it felt like going to a Monarch Dental or other corporate offices again. This post is not to bad mouth this company. I just want to warn people to go with their gut and when in doubt, get a second opinion before spending a lot of money on things you may not need.

The office is very nice, everyone is friendly, and you receive honest and genuine care from the doctors. Just had a wisdom tooth removed and I am so glad I was able to get it done here. Great place that’s won my family’s business.

I just had my teeth cleaned by Kristal and the experience was nothing short of amazing. Before the cleaning my teeth felt so fuzzy like an ugly Christmas sweater. After Kristal blessed me with her cleaning my teeth feel so smooth. I literally cannot stop gliding my tongue against them. I’m very pleased and would recommend Kristal and the entire team at Bayside dental.
