Belknap Dental and Dr. D are so good at what they do. Whenever I leave the office, I feel like they have taken such good care of my teeth. If you don't have a scheduled appointment, but have some pain in any area of your mouth, they are very quick at getting you an appointment to see what is going on. I would highly recommend anyone go to Belknap Dental. They are professional and very friendly.

Having to find a new dental provider because my previous dentist retired worried me a little bit. I ended up at Belknap Dental. The whole staff already makes me feel at home. Dr Thapa (dentist), Brittany (assistant) and Cindy (hygienist), who have worked on my teeth, are all very professional, friendly, and are always concerned with my level of comfort while they do their work. After 3 visits for different services, I'm already very happy with my experience at Belknap Dental.

As always I had a great experience at Belknap Dental. Everyone is always professional and personable. My wait times have always be minimal and the time in the dental chair is never excessive...I wouldn't trade these folks for anything!

I've been going to belknap dental for a very long time, and I'm always treated both professionally and like family. I feel weird cause I'm always excited when I have an appointment. My hygienist Jen Carberry is super good at her job and overall fun to talk to. As I'm writing this review I'm trying to think of something I don't like but I can't? Highly recommend this place over any other.

Terrible communications and bedside manner, and questionable quality of care. We tried to become Belknap Dental patients but they dropped us after my daughter had already had 3 visits! Maureen, the office manager, left us a sticky-sweet voice mail saying that she has found another orthodontist for my daughters to see. I can't say that I'm upset about it because our initial two orthodontist visits left me with many questions and feeling awkward. WHY the breakup, you ask? Maureen said that it was for our convenience, but I have a better guess that it was because I asked too many questions during my daughter's consultations. First of all, my daughter had an appliance in her mouth that was placed by her previous orthodontist (we recently moved to the area) that needed to come out. Dr. Lee, the one and only orthodontist at Belknap Dental, extracted it, but she looked awkward in her motions, took forever to get the appliance out, and did not seem comfortable around my daughter (barely any conversation or eye contact, along with excessive and oddly timed questioning about my daughter's comfort level) . Furthermore, when giving her assessment, Dr. Lee took a longer-than-normal amount of time to communicate her plan of care, and I had to push her to give me any details beyond the fact that she would like to have impressions and X-rays done. I thought that she most likely had just graduated with her degree (she looks young) and that she is still getting her confidence and footing in he field. But when I asked Maureen, the office manager, how long Dr. Lee had been in practice, she shocked me and said 8 years! I definitely have higher expectations for manual skills, bedside manner with children, and ability to communicate a plan of care for an orthodontist that has been in practice for 8 years. Secondly, things got weird quickly with Maureen when I asked her gently why both she and Dr. Lee had mentioned repeatedly (2 times each) that the initial orthodontic consultation would be free for our family. It was they were shoving the marketing down our throats and it was getting kinda awkward--I was left wondering if we had been the lucky winners of some secret contest that we were not told about. "Are we special?", I asked. "No, you're not special", said Maureen, and that initial consultations are free for all families. Then she proceeded to spew marketing mumbo-jumbo that lasted for a minute or two...and it didn't make any sense. Awkward. As if that were not enough, I was not pleased that we had to make a special trip to Belknap just to get impressions and X-rays done. Why could those not have been done on the same day that we saw the orthodontist? The answer is that Dr. Lee only has one tech working for her, whereas at every other orthodontist office I have ever been to there are several techs or assistants working so that routine things like impressions and X-rays can be done on the spot. No need for an extra visit (which is 20 minutes of driving for us each way, plus a 10 minute wait in the waiting room). Then the most awkward thing of all was getting the voice mail that Belknap Dental is breaking up with our family. Not only did they recommend a different orthodontist for my daughter that had the appointments with Dr. Lee already, but they also canceled my other daughter's orthodontic appointment for next week, which would have been her very first visit ever. My two daughters have already seen the dentist for cleanings at Belknap Dental and I think that went reasonably well (my husband accompanied them and he had no complaints). I am not sure if the dentist is also breaking up with us?! Overall, if you see Dr. Lee for orthodontics, expect that she will function like a new practitioner--I honestly can't evaluate the quality in depth because we did not get a chance. And if you have to deal with Maureen, expect to be confused, disrespected, and frustrated.
