Story

Berkshire Medical Center is a private, non-profit 302-bed community teaching hospital in Pittsfield, Massachusetts affiliated with the University of Massachusetts Medical School.HistoryThe hospital's history goes back to the original House of Mercy hospital, which opened in Pittsfield in 1875. In 1949 the House of Mercy was renamed Pittsfield General Hospital, and moved into a new seven-level, 245-bed location in 1962. It merged with St. Luke's Hospital in 1968, becoming the Berkshire Medical Center. It merged with Hillcrest Hospital in 1996. It acquired the former North Adams Regional Hospital property from Bankruptcy Court on August 29, 2014.CertificationsBerkshire is certified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level III trauma center and by The Joint Commission.

My wife came in the ER with chest pains at 5:45, by 6:20 she had an EKG and blood taken. We then waited to get a room in the ER for 3 hours. The nurse came in 20 minutes, checked my wife's vitals. All looked good. She said she would take a look at the lab work, all of that came back good as well. But my wife needed to see the Dr and it would be another hour or two. Dr Pelkey finally came in to she her at 11:30 and spent 10 minutes with her and said someone would be in to discharge her. We finally left the ER at 12:00. Over a 6 hour visit to the ER is just wrong.

Have been hospitalized here three times, all as the result of an emergency room visit. Quite pleased with the care and attention I received. The nurses are always attentive and caring, quick to deal with any issue i bring up (other than total jackass roommates, some solutions were contra-indicated by restrictive laws against assault, battery and explosives). The doctors solved my conditions (Gall bladder, Cellulitis, Kidney failure). The follow up care has been exemplary. I have seen specialists for surgery, kidneys, diabetes, ophthalmology, cardiovascular, and gastrointestinal issues Parking can be an issue, and some of the elevators make ominous noises but the care has been great.

Absolutely the worst hospital in Massachusetts. If you have a medical emergency take the two hour trip else where because you will die in the care of these people. I waited hours to be scene with only a few others in the waiting room who also waited extremely long. The staff socialized and laughed about patients they were already seeing; one nurse came out and said "wow all these people when you're in your own head space you forget where you are " the security guards were foul mouthed with the staff and joked about a person who broke their neck and about their wheelchair. I was told I was next in the que. "pneumonia" couldn't breathe. They let in 4 people ahead of me because the room they wanted to give me hadn't been cleaned because housekeeping was in front of me talking to security about knives being left out in that room and security DID NOT want to do their job. ABSOLUTELY HORRID.

This place is Berkshire murder center i wouldnt ever bring a worse Emmy here thet suck they are a joke and i hope my appendix bursts and they get sued

My father (70 years old) is stuck in there right now due to a foot infection. He's been there for literally days and staff haven't updated him on what's going on or even allowed him access to a tub so he can bathe. Is BMC owned by a convicted retiree abuser? Maybe someone who thinks germs are "fake news"? Thinking of legal action if his infection worsens or he gets MRSA or Staph.
