Big Ben Tavern

About

Big Ben Tavern is a friendly-neighbourhood gastropub in Sugarland, Texas that opened its doors in 2013.

Story

This Restaurant/Bar tries to provide a comfortable ambience to sports-lovers with it's 25 screens, a more compassionate society with it's pet-friendly patio and a bit of the world with food that is inspired by cuisines around the globe. With around 30 crafts beers on tap, BBT tries to offer 'more' to it's patrons

The culinary team at Big Ben Tavern is led by Chef KK, a native of India with an enduring passion for International cuisine. He has a Master's degree in culinary arts from UT and experience in the kitchens of Kempinski, Mall of emirates, Dubai and Second Bar & kitchen, Austin. His creativity is applied in converting quality produce into more than just comfort pub-food. He is also a co-owner at BBT.

Gaining inspiration from diverse grub around the world, the menu offers a modern twist to traditional specialities such as Lamb rolls and Chicken tikka. If you are one for surprises, on Tuesdays, the Chef prepares signature steaks that are never repeated, with sides that may take you to a quaint little town in France, the bustling city of Bangkok or a beautiful Mediterranean island.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Big Ben Tavern. Was here a couple of weeks ago for work and had the fish tacos. They were amazing. Huge portions and extremely tasty. Much more than I was expecting. Much better than your typical bar food. Beer selection was decent.

The positive thing is that they have a lot of beer on tap. You can experience all kinds of beer choices. We had a lamb roll appetizer, it was decent. Definitely worth it for its Saturday price of six dollars. Not really worth it at the regular price. We are glad we went and checked the place out but probably won't be back unless there is some wicked special.

We stayed for about an hour. Only because it took about that long for our food to come out, which was too gross to eat anyway. The waitress told us she needed our cards "to put on tab before the tables start filling up" just as I thought, I had nothing to worry about in that department it was pretty dead in there. After this bad experience, a week later we notice some charges were made to east bay...which we have never shopped at! So if you want someone to steal from you by all means hit this place up! However they have pretty good fried pickles. Pay cash.
