The Birmingham zoo has undergone extensive renovation in recent years and they are still adding new areas. Kids will love the petting zoo with farm animals and the water zone near the cafe. They will also enjoy the train ride around the zoo, feeding giraffes, and camel rides. There is an exhibit of local wildlife along with exotic animals from around the world. Be sure to check the schedule for shows and demonstrations that are a part of their education program. If you live near by, consider getting a family membership so that you can spend more time at each exhibit.

I had a great time at this zoo! The train ride around the zoo was very beautiful and informative. Although it was raining the day I went, there were still tons of zoo creatures out and about to see! I would recommend taking the kids or your significant other. You will have a great time. On a sad note, there are renovations going on at the zoo right now to make it even better. So keep that in mind as well.

Very small zoo, but it was still fun. Not very crowded when we went in September (it was a rainy day). My favorite part was being able to feed the fish and the flamingos. It was hilarious. They are trained to hear that dispensing noise and then all huddle around you.

We typically visit the zoo a couple of times a year. There's always something interesting going on and lots of renovations. Family has a great time!

I think they do a good job of enrichment for the animals, and I love getting to feed the giraffes! But the last 2 times I've been, the lorikeet exhibit has been closed even though the posted hours stated it should have been open, and it was staffed. That's one of the best parts of the zoo, so that was super annoying.
