What's up guys, my name is Kevin Bowen and I am the founder of Blacksburg Boxing and Fitness! Here at Blacksburg Boxing, we believe EVERY-BODY is worth fighting for. We are a fitness gym looking to help others improve their fitness, health and wellness. We are also a USA Boxing Certified and registered gym, so for those folks thinking that may be crazy enough to want to try and spar and compete, we do offer that at the gym too and have plenty of coaches and trainers who can help you take your boxing game to the next level! That being said, I'd say roughly 95% of our members have no intention of ever actually hopping in the ring to fight, so don't worry if you want to come in for a visit, you WON'T get hit and have nothing to worry about!

So, why Boxing?:
Boxing is one of the best full-body workouts you can possibly do, because it requires great speed, endurance, and strength throughout your upper-body, lower-body, core, and cardiovascular system. Unlike a lot of other training methods, boxing is extremely functional for building up explosive power and stamina. That being said, ladies you don't have to worry about bulking up because the high intensity intervals of your traditional boxing round can burn up to 1000 calories in a single hour! Boxing is also a really fun skill to learn, because unlike traditional workouts, you are constantly working on something new, or perfecting a certain punch. It truly is a great way to de-stress as well, and its a heck of a lot cheaper then therapy. Boxing is also a great form of self-defense too! There are so many reasons you should give boxing a try!

Kevin Bowen is a Virginia Tech 2011 grad and a former member of the Virginia Tech Boxing Club. Kevin has been a Certified Fitness Trainer since 2013, and has been incorporating boxing into his client's fitness programs since 2014. Kevin has also had the opportunity to spar against both professional and amateur boxers, and has also competed at the amateur level. Kevin's passion for boxing and fitness, coupled with his love for Virginia Tech and the Blacksburg community made starting Blacksburg Boxing and Fitness a no-brainer!
