Mission

The Borough Social media policy is available at http://ecode360.com/documents/pub/BR0518/Resolutions/ as stated in Resolution 2015-022. It defines the Borough’s mission for social media. The Borough desires to communicate accurate information to the community in a manner that is timely, effective, readily available, inexpensive, convenient, and consistent with the contemporary mechanisms of information technology. Social media is one of the contemporary mechanisms that satisfies the above-mentioned criteria. But, the use of social media can be problematic for governments and requires policies. The intent of the policy is to ensure that social media is used in a manner consistent with the mission and in a way that protects the interest of the Borough. This policy established rules and guidelines for the use of social media in the Borough of Bridgeport. Appendix 2 of the policy defines the particular uses of Facebook.
