Have dropped off dresses and blazers every so often for a 3 years for cleaning. The items always come back clean and without damage -- though I have had some issues with zippers thereafter. Overall, the staff is minimal in their interactions -- which I appreciate, but perhaps could be anticipated as rude. Items have always been completed on time as indicated when I dropped off the clothes (usually within 2 days).

I am completely floored about the bad experiences other have had! 
I was a student and then a volunteer in the Cavalier Marching Band at UVA for nearly 7 years. Brown's managed all of the dry-cleaning for the Marching Band uniforms, which was impeccably done every time on even the worst of our schedules -- and the original uniforms have held up for nearly 10 years without discoloration, tears/holes, etc ....

Alterations are terrible.They charged me $60 and the hem of my dress was so incredibly crooked - like noticeably. Don't offer a service if you can't do it well.

I've been using them for years, mainly for dress shirts.  Staff are friendly and professional, and I've never had any problems.

For many years my husband took clothes to Brown's about 8-10 times a year.  Most were his.  One day I was packing a dress he had done there and saw the pleats were gone.  It was a 2 piece dress and had ~1.5 feet of pleats from the bottom.  I had to pack it since I had to wear it in a foreign country.  I never had time to put the pleats in myself.  When I returned I took it to Browns.  The more recent orders in their computer were not for this dress.  They had older orders that didn't itemize.  And even older orders were not in their computer.  Thus they charged me $15.90 to clean the two piece dress and $5.00 to put the pleats back.  I told them to tell the owner he had lost our business at all Brown's, unless I got a refund of $5.00.   They had my phone number.  So now we will find another cleaner
