C’est la Vie serves breakfast and lunch and offers its delicious fresh baked goods from early morning to early evening.

Story

It’s easy to forget that you’re in Florida and not France on your visit to C’est La Vie. When owners Christophe and Geraldine moved to Sarasota 20 years ago, it was their mission to bring an authentic French bistro experience to America. C’est la Vie opened its doors in 1997 and was one of the first restaurants downtown to offer outdoor seating like many of the established bistros in France.

Stopped by to pick up some treats for an important client. Got 2 boxes of macaroons, a pear tart and a baked apple tart. When I dropped them off at their office, everyone came over to "ooh and aah" over the BOX OF TEMPTATION I had brought by. Everyone loved their pastries so much that the owner of the office sent me a special note to say thank you for bringing by such a scrumptious surprise. Have always enjoyed eating lunch here but this was the first time I allowed myself to go over to the "Dark Side". So glad that I did and so are my clients. Thanks C'est La Vie!!!

Well, I'm one of the lucky ones who has dual citizenship from France after a long marriage to a French citizen. C'est La Vie reminds me of my visits there. All the French speaking people in Sarasota, both Americans and French love to go there and feel the warmth of comradeship. Gigi, one of the owners is always glad to see us. The exquisite salads are generous and authentic. Plus the bread, croissants and desserts make your mouth water and your eyes tear as a reminder of what a good Bakery could be. The outside tables are great for people watching and the inside tables actually look like a crowded French cafe.

Always delish, with fresh baguette...the desserts, though creative, may have been sitting for a few days. Lunches are good with a bit of a French attitude, from some of the staff. C'est la vie! A popular place with the locals...honest review, and I continue to go back....good people watching.

Our ladies lunch group, five of us went there for lunch today. Two of us had the house C'est La Vie salad. The chicken on the salad was hard, hard, hard and very dry. The tomatoes were tired looking. I couldn't find the waitress to complain to her. When we finally wanted to leave it took us 23 minutes to get our bills. One of the ladies in our group showed the waitress how to use her ipad to ring up our orders. I think the kitchen and the waitress need a lot more training. Our group will never go back there. We will spend our money someplace else!!!!!!

I've been coming here for 15 years..it's the best authentic French food outside of France! If you're in a hurry, just get take out. The service is usually as authentically French as the food (friendly, but not always fast). In France, meals are not meant to be quick, but it's well worth the slow coffee refills when the coffee is as good as it is at C'est La Vie!
