I worked with Paulina to find an apartment on the Upper East side during that stressful time when one has to consider school zones.  Paulina was honest, considerate, and above all demonstrated incredible patience with what were admittedly fickle and demanding clients.   It never bothered her that we were simultaneously weighing both apartments and school zones
or that she had to show us over a dozen apartments before we settled on something suitable and within budget.  She was incredibly responsive by email and text and I would not hesitate working with her again in the future.  Our highest recommendation!

Working with Gary was great. We met after I had inquired about a listing that I saw online. He met me promptly at the apartment on the same day I had emailed him about the listing. When that apartment didn't work out, Gary went on the hunt and it was easy to tell from the start that this guy is a hustler. Having a background in the mortgage industry I've worked with hundreds of brokers and it's easy to tell the ones who care from the ones who don't. It was instantly clear to me that Gary genuinely cared about finding me a good place. We spent the rest of the day texting back and forth about what I wanted in an apartment and he must have sent me 8 different listings or so when we found the one. He met me again that night to do a walk through of 4 units that were available in the building and then he met me again the next day to do a final walk through. We ended up putting in an application, and when there was a question about whether or not the dog would be approved by the leasing office, Gary went above and beyond and send me articles about what to do in preparation of the leasing office meeting the dog. He even showed up for the 5 minutes I was in the office in order to make sure the meeting with the dog went smoothly. He works quickly and tirelessly and it was greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend working with Gary.

Daphne was very helpful and honest when helping us obtain our apartment. She did not sugar coat things for us and as young professionals moving into our first apartment, she guided us through the process. Daphne was also extremely communicative and kept us in the loop as we waited for our application to be approved.

The process was not completely smooth but this isn’t something we blame on Daphne, but rather the company she works for, Caliber. The information she was given was not accurate. For example, she claimed that the rent was stabilized during our apartment tour, but upon signing the lease we learned that it actually wasn’t stabilized. She/Caliber was also misleading about what the landlord would allow in terms of our guarantor. This initially caused us to almost lose the apartment if we hadn’t come up with a lucky, last minute guarantor solution.

After we got approved for the apartment, Caliber was demanding and inflexible with our work schedules. They were also inflexible with our guarantor’s schedule. Upon moving in, we would call our Super to ask basic questions such as setting up electricity, and he said that these questions should have been explained by our broker, but that this was also typical broker behavior.

Overall, we are happy that we have an apartment and thankful for Daphne’s help but we wish Caliber offered better customer service. As first-time apartment renters, Caliber could have been more understanding about our situation and clear to us regarding the nuts and bolts of moving in for the first time. We recommend Daphne but just be aware when working with Caliber that you have your questions ready, do your research as much as possible, and be firm in what you need and want.
