We rented a deluxe cabin number 14 for our honeymoon. The GPS took us to the wrong entrance...it was a 1 way, so pay attention to the signs on the road and you will find it no problem. There was no cell phone service and the satellite service in the cabin was terrible, but we did not go for that anyway. The lake view from our cabin was breathtaking! We had a great time walking trails and canoeing (you can rent boats and canoes to paddle the lake, defiantly worth it...the lake was amazingly breathtaking). The Louisiana State Arboretum is located within the park...and has over 5 miles of trails to hike, on top of the trails located through out the park. It was completely worth the trip, we had a great time. The cabin looks like it has recently been updated. I would suggest bring your own blanket and pillows, for a more comfortable nights rest. If you like nature...and breathtaking sites, you will not regret making this trip.

We went to Chicot for a bachelor party/mancation and we had a blast. We were in the lodge pretty much by ourselves the whole time. The only time we ran into anyone else during the whole weekend was when we checked in. The cabin was decent and we didn't expect much seeing as we wanted to be "living the cabin life" instead of in luxury. They had TVs so we watched some sports and we sent a lot of time walking the trails and cooking on the pits. I would suggest bringing you own pillow if you are picky about those sort of things. The mattresses were what you would expect if you've ever been to a summer camp before. But as I said we were looking for a weekend to be "off the grid and in the thick of nature" so this was exactly what we were looking for. We are considering making this a yearly tradition.

We love this park. There are great hiking trails. The arboretum is also there and is great for kids. There are some really nice spots for tent camping.

Very nice camp grounds boat launch and rental boats or canoe. Full RV hook ups with bath house cabins, splash pad for kids, washer and dryer at the north camping area ..... added bonus the wild life is all over the park be sure to put your food ice chest away the coons will take advantage of you!

Fabulous park. The "comfort station" on the north camping area has private bathrooms and even a laundry. There is also wifi for the campsites. It's slow, since it's satellite based, but wow nonetheless. We had a great time over Christmas. Practically no one around.
