Children’s Museum of Phoenix

About

Learning is a joy at the Children's Museum of Phoenix with three floors of hands-on, interactive, educational, and fun exhibits for children ages birth to 10. This is not your typical Museum; here we want you to touch EVERYTHING!

Story

Acting on the principle that learning is a joy, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix’s mission is to engage the minds, muscles and imaginations of children and the grown-ups who care about them. With hands-on, interactive exhibits designed for children ages birth to 10, the Museum focuses on learning through play, with emphasis on early childhood education and school-readiness.

The Museum is open 9am to 4pm Tuesday through Sunday, and is open on Mondays during March, June and July. It is also open on major holidays (excluding New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).

Which museum was only mediocre. I say that because it is called the Children's Museum, in which I interpreted this place to be for children of all ages. However this Museum is specifically targeted for smaller children ages 2 to 5 years of age. I have two younger children ages 10 and 9 and it seemed like they were already too grown and mature for this Museum. Also it smelled like urine and dirty diapers throughout the entire Museum. This place needs to totally hire a dedicated crew of Maintenance workers and cleaners to work around the clock. It smells like a changing room for dirty diapers or a toilet that has yet to be cleaned since 2004. I recommend choosing another museum for your child. You won't regret it

There is so much for the kids to do here! That's really the best part about it. The children's museum in Tucson has some of the same or similar exhibits, but not nearly the volume or variety that Phoenix has. The outdoor area is great, so long as it's not hot outside. The climbing pipes get quite warm in the sun. Overall, it's definitely worth the trip from down in Tucson, probably anywhere in Arizona in general. In particular, my kids like the car tracks upstairs the most, but there are tons of exhibits that keep them engaged for quite a while. For younger kids, there's a nice small child area that is separate from the other spaces with bigger kids running around.

My 2.5 year old really enjoyed this place. The large tree house upon entering is fun, but not for small children or those afraid of heights. Outdoor garden and playground was fun, but didn't capture our attention for long. The favorite location was the race cars on the top floor. The are a few large cars to play in and then a fun track for smaller Derby cars that all the kids seemed to enjoy. Overall, a good children's museum - though not our favorite comparing other cities.

The museum had three floors and an outdoor area. I wouldn't have noticed that there were three floors if someone hadn't told me. My son had a good time here, especially playing with the ice cream cart, climbing structure, cars and sand. It did seem a bit pricey. Overall, if in Phoenix again, I would consider taking my son there for another round of fun.

Great place to hangout with little ones and there is lots to do. An easy few hours of fun. Depending on the energy of your LO you might need another adult to keep up with them. Watch out for bigger kids that might collide with smaller kids while they play.
