Story

We set ourselves apart from other seafood restaurants with our unique location, love of Newport, and excellent customer service.

Just 100 yards separates you, from our front door and a leisurely walk on the historic Nye Beach.

Since our inception in 1980, the surrounding area has become a quaint village (full of food and retail outlets), doing an excellent job preserving the architecture and history of the 1920's and 30's.


New England-Style Clam Chowder We proudly serve our Milk-Based, Thick and Creamy Clam Chowder and use only the best quality Sea Clams. Our Clam Chowder is so good we've been featured on "The Today Show", in Coastal Living Magazine, and recently we received the 2010 Newport News-Times "Best Clam Chowder" Award.

Very enjoyable lunch. The oysters were plump and tasty, however our opinion of what constitutes "lightly breaded" was a little less crumby than the chef's. The chowder was pretty good, one of our party said the sourdough bowl was some of the best sourdough they'd had. Menu was diverse, ample selections for the youngsters and oldsters alike. Wine & beer list a tad skimpy. Wait staff was friendly and paid good attention to the table.

This place has great food! We stayed at a hotel with a “fancy” restaurant near the lobby. Though some might like it, I and my family found Chowder Bowl more to our taste. We enjoyed it so much, we returned two nights in a row! Great wait staff!

Good food! House-made strawberry lemonade was amazing. Great location to the beach, nice restrooms, and easily accessible for all types of people. I wish their specials had been easier to access, as I only found out what they were after I had ordered my chowder bowl and wished I had ordered one of the specials. We ordered the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, and they were good, but not warm enough that the cheese was super meslty and we could tell they were from a bag.

The service was quick and easy. The food all sounds good. Ended up having the seafood platter which was amazing! It can easily serve 2 people and the clam chowder is truly delicious!

It was a nice place to eat. The atmosphere was good. Service was good. Food was ok. I asked about the beer battered onion rings and they said they were not hand breaded. Frozen, so we did t try them. I had the chowder, it was pretty good. I should have tried it in the bread bowl, I will if we go back.
