People often confuse Bengali and Indian food. They are quite similar, but there are lots of differences. This is one of the finest restaurants I've ever visited in the U.S. I am from Bangladesh and if you are looking for authentic Bengali food, I highly recommend you come to Cilantro. Most people may not be aware that 90% of Indian restaurants have Bengali chefs in the kitchen! Bengali spices and recipes are savory, aromatic, and use variety of vegetables and use culinary expertise to satisfy everyone. Cilantro is a family-owned restaurant, simple in its decor, but extravagant in food preparation. The service and overall experience makes this charming restaurant an extraordinary find. Definitely worth the trip back from NYC to Norfolk!!

The food was amazing. The restaurant is a quaint little diner, which isn't exactly what I expected. The staff was very nice and helpful, giving us recommendations since we knew next to nothing about this type of food. Do yourself a favor and go on a Saturday for the biryani special. It's so good!

Being a Bangladeshi when I see Bangladeshi restaurant here, my feeling is mixed of love and pride. It even deepens when I see people are enjoying food. Went to check this out seeing high google reviews and realized the reason behind it. Great quality food in reasonable price! I would say healthy too..not a lot of extra oil and spices..And awesome environment...Highly recommended! You will taste real Bangladeshi flavors!!

Colorful assortment of food in a cafeteria setting, friendly staff. Like the mom-pop feel of the restaurant. Could increase portion sizes but was flavorful. In a sketchy neighborhood and the parking lot backs into a main road. Paratha was a welcome change from naan usually found at similar (Indian) places.

Wow, can't say enough good things about this place. Food is excellent, restaurant very clean and staff is friendly..Yummy, you will not be disappointed. Prices are very reasonable for such great food. I will be back soon.
