I'll preface this with the fact that I have stupidly high standards since living in Charleston. Regardless, this place is good...but it pretends to be something it is not. It is aspiring to be more, but isn't willing to really go the distance to get there. The food was really good, but not great. I thoroughly enjoyed my duck entree and my wife her crab cakes. Wine selection was good enough, but my $35 bottle came with a screw cap. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing, intimate, and calm. Yet, for a place touting themselves as a bit upscale...it just doesn't make the mark. It is priced as an upscale restaurant as well when it should probably be a notch lower. We dressed appropriately for an upscale restaurant, but we could've came in a bit more casual attire. Regardless, we enjoyed our meals and the view of the waterfront from our table. I just feel this place could be much more, but maybe that is to much to ask of it. This may be upscale for the area, but it falls short in that aspect with me.

This was awful. We arrived for a reservation to a completely empty restaurant. Not necessarily a big deal but it took almost 30 minutes to get our appetizers and over an hour to get our entrees. I ordered their James Beard burger without mayo and it arrived covered in mayo, both sides. There was no way that a new bun would fix this so I just said that I wanted the burger taken off my bill. They initially argued that they couldn't do that but after pressing the issue they did take it off the bill. The meal was very disappointing but it took almost 30 minutes to get the check. We were so disappointed with the results we asked to speak to a manager. Turns out the manager/chef/owner left over an hour before they were closed so they could not address our concerns. By the way nobody ever came in the restaurant the entire time we were there. I could overlook a mistake on an order especially if they tried to make it right but the poor service when we were the only ones there for over 2 hours. It also really made me mad that the manager left before the restaurant was closed by over an hour!! What kind of way is this to run a business?! To add insult to injury we had to pay 22% gratuity to the bill because we were a party of 6.... don't waste your time here. The mac and cheese was good but not worth the money and it's clear the management doesn't care. I'll never go back.

The positive: the truffle mac, potato app, and cheese plate is great. Chicken and waffles was pretty decent. That said, the service was cringeworthy for a few reasons. Turns out the burgers were *mixed* to order, which is not normal. None of our entrees required more than 15 minutes, from fire to window. For reasons unbeknownst to restaurant owners everywhere, management staff left before closing. There wasn't a single manager on staff when, after a 1.5 hour service (app order to entree arrival), we needed to address the ridiculous amount of time it took to service a table of 6 in - I kid you not - a restaurant without any other other patrons. Really. From the time we walked in until close we were the only patrons. I now know why.

Visited on a week night, early dinner. We made reservations on line, seated right away, waiter was great! Very attentive and took the time to explain everything to us (first time visit). We really like the salad bar. Great selection of cheeses, fruit, and fantastic prepared veggie. I liked the soup as well.
