About

Run by the keepers of Claws 'N' Paws Wild Animal Park. Updates on the animals & a little bit of the inside scoop on some of the keepers favorite animals.

Story

Claws 'N' Paws is a private zoo in the heart of Lake Ariel. It's often called "the zoo in the woods" because of it's woodland setting. We are open May until mid-late October.
Throughout the day there are a number of keeper-lead activities, many of which are designed to give the public a closer interaction with our animals. Lory parrot feedings and turtle town are some of our favorites

This page is run entirely by our keepers. All the photos, updates and stories are from the keepers who work with these animals every day. We love our animals very much and know that many of you care about them too and we cant wait to share their lives with you.
Keep in touch over the winter too. Although you may not be able to come and visit them yourself, we promise to keep you updated and post lots of pictures of all your favorites.

If you have any questions we'd be more than happy to answer them and would love to see all the great pictures you've taken too.
If you have a favorite animal that you'd like to see more of, just let us know and we will do our best.

Nice day out here at the zoo. Wasn't very crowded when we all came which was during the weekday. You cannot pet or feed all the animals but they have a small section for that. Best to try to visit when weather is good because it will get muddy and you need be careful where you walk. Bathroom are for guests. Snacks too. Great for taking pictures also.

You can get "close to the animals" as the website States but the only ones that you can feed are the few in the petting zoo and if you are there for the animal "talk" you can feed the very cool giraffe, Jethro who currently is about 15 months old. I don't know if they offer additional feedings through the day as we were only there until about 1:30 pm. The terrain is hilly and a bit Rocky in spots, but it is in the woods which is nice in warm weather. There are a lot of different animals. I enjoyed the animal show at 1 pm. The environment is natural and woodsy. There is a lot of shade which is nice. The website does offer a coupon. The signs offer good basic information about the animals and most were easy to view during our visit. The gift shop had some specific merchandise as well as basic animal merchandise, some seemed a little pricey but other was very reasonable. It all depends on what you are looking for. Overall the park seemed ok, a little muddy due to rain that had been in the area recently but otherwise what I expect in an animal park. There are several unique animals such as the singing dogs that I have not seen often.

This place is AWESOME! My girl friend and I brought our two sons, ages 3.5 and 9, they both had a blast. All the animals are friendly, all visible on our trip. There are staff members walking around with animals, asking you if you want to pet them. You are able to pet and feed giant tortoises. There are a lot of different animals and exhibits! Lots of animals to feed and pet. We got a kiss from a giraffe while on this trip. I would absolutely come again. It's so cool cause it's woodsy and you actually feel like you're a part of nature. All the animals look well fed and happy. We spent 3 hours here. I could see this being an all day thing if you want to see all the shows but we arrived late in the day when it's not too crowded.

This is the best Wild Animal Park I have been to! There are so many various animals you can see and some of them you can pet! I really enjoyed feeding the Lories and lorikeets! I was really sad to hear last year that one of their beloved giraffe's had past away. My favorite part about this adventure was the gift shop! The gift shop was filled of amazing stuffed animals, notepads, pens, ext.. The staff was very nice and knew where everything was! Overall this is the best Wild Animal Park you can go to and have a great time with your family or friends!

Very cool stuff here. Definitely a different style from a very made-up type of zoo. Pretty much all the exhibits here are just animals in their habitats.. Not a bad thing, though, since there's a huge number and variety.
