One week ago I purchased two items that were marked down and understood that I would receive the advertised 50 % off prices. When I arrived home I noticed that one item was marked $23.27 but the sales slip listed the price as $33.27. When I returned to the shop I was told that it was a human error and that they could not correct it. Hence, the price I had to pay with my 50% preferred customer discount was more than the ticketed price of $23.27. The clerk agreed that it did not seem fair but she did not have the authority to either take the item back or to give me the ticketed price at least. She took my name and phone number and said that she would have the owner call me. That was a week ago and I have heard nothing. Buyer beware! I received a call on 9/30 from the store manager who, under the circumstances, agreed to give a full credit card refund. I am satisfied that this was offered.

My wife purchased a shirt on May 12. Brought it home and prepared to wear it, thereby removed the tags. Four days later a 20% discount coupon arrived in the mail. My wife visited the store with the receipt the next day and asked if the coupon could be honored retroactively. Since the tags were no longer on the item, she was refused in a rather terse and unkind manner. We are very disappointed in this poor customer service. It is no wonder people shop at Big Box stores where such transactions would be honored!! Clay's just lost a customer and my friends will also be warned not to support Clay's because of the unfriendly policy.

Great clothes and selection. The staff tends to hawk and are not exactly honest when helping people. They go for the sale regardless of whether it's flattering for the customer.

I have loved Clay's since my son started at Amherst in 2002. They have a very unique and individual sense of style. Even my husband knows it's a must stop for me in Amherst.
