I live here year round. It's wonderful. Very beautiful and well maintained. Also very safe. Rangers make presence know and don't hesitate to confront a problem. Like asking drivers to slow down. This isn't a party spot. Noise, music, etc, isn't tolerated outside of group areas which are a bit secluded from general camping sites. There are tons of beautiful sites, pull throughs, 50 and 30 amp + water during the warm months. 10$ a day camping plus utilities of 11 to 13$ a day. Many lovely primitive sites. Can get very busy on nice weekends. Kids park with swings n such in campground 3. Very nice. Quaint but beautiful swimming beach. My personal favorite is all the wonderful hiking trails that literally go on for miles. Shower houses are very nice and very clean. Vault toilets everywhere if that's important. Dump stations outside each campground. Camp hosts are great. Lots of wildlife. Deer regularly walk through at dusk. Last Saturday in February through last Saturday of March HUGE bicycle race through campground 1. If you're into that, great. Want peace and quiet then avoid. It can be heard for miles. Loud music and announcements and tons of people. Whelp that's all I can think of. Great place for fulltimers. Very close to town. Everything you need and you can stay year round by flip flopping campgrounds that are about a mile apart. 😁

This is a great place to camp. The facilities overall are great. One or two could use some refurbishing. Still a great experience! Had one issue with a family pulling late and putting two of their tents in our campsite. One quick chat with the camp host had two rangers come and sort out the issue. Apparently 7 tents was a bit over what they had actually paid for. In any case they moved over a bit and we all got along fine.

This is my favorite place around Kansas City area. It is very beautiful and so peaceful with tranquil water waves sounds. There are several spots where you can park and go close to water. Really amazing place and a great weekend gateway for KC residents.
