The worst hotel experience I've ever had. STAY AWAY. The lady at the front desk is single handedly the rudest person I have ever encountered. The rooms are old and outdated and they smell of numerous unpleasant odors. No locks on the doors. Rooms were unclean. Spend a little more to stay in a nicer establishment.  This place is a dump

Great rooms clean and spacious! Friendly staff. Our go to place when visiting family in beverly. Highly recommended. S&C Ross.

Great location within one mile of all Salem attractions. Front desk was very accomodating as well. Room was dated and clean(ish). Had a decent tv with normal direct Tv service so you get a lot of channels. That's where the positive stops. When we checked in the main lobby was a mess. Papers and decorations everywhere. They had a grill set up on a snack tray bread and cheese out from the employees lunch. The room did not have a deadbolt on the door (it was a bedroom door lock and key) and also did not come with a do not disturb sign (which was concerning as well considering there's no deadbolt).  DO NOT USE THE KEURIG. We looked into ours and there was mold on the inside. The room service man looks like a homeless man. He wears ratty clothes and pushes the blankets in a shopping cart. We honestly thought he was homeless until he said he worked there. There was a used bar of soap in our shower when we arrived so make sure you check as well. Everything worked fine so if you need a simple place to stay this is your place.

Salem local here.  I often have guests come visit for weekends.  I made the mistake of deciding to try to save a little money and give Clipper Ship Inn a try for our guests coming into town this weekend.  Upon calling to make a reservation, I was treated to the most disrespectfully rude attitude by the woman on the phone.  Seemed like she was doing everything she could to NOT take my business, sighing, telling me to wait, putting me on hold, asking me several times if I was SURE my guests were coming, because the reservation is non-refundable (I'm quite aware of how hotel reservations and cancellations work), then suggested that maybe I wanted the Hawthorne instead - which is exactly what I ended up doing.  My mistake for trying to save a few dollars.  I will never, ever send any business to this place.  It looks by reviews like I'm not the only one who's been alienated by this woman.  PS - maybe join the 21st century and update the website to take online reservations.  At least then people wouldn't have to call and be subjected to talking to this person.
