Seattle/Tacoma branch of the largest Allied Van Lines agent in the Allied Van Lines network. Also serves as the mainland hub for AAA Alaska agency, also part of the Allied agent network. Competitive pricing and moving rates, even against other Allied agents in the area. However, this review is for their Alaskan service. Unlike most moving companies that have the same crews handle all types of moves, (which is fine and there is nothing wrong with that,) Coleman/AAA has a specialty trained crew that is their primary function with in the agency to pack and load/deliver and service just their Alaskan shipments. Or when they are fully booked servicing other customers and a normal household crew services an Alaska move they will quality control check the shipment before it is sent out for transport to Alaska. Why is this so significant you ask? With modern shipping regulations and tariff changes as well as international customs and border security ever changing as well as the general rise in expense of operating costs in the transportation business on an international and local level across the board of all shipping alike, not just household moving, fewer and fewer shipments going to and from Alaska are being driven through Canada to and from the mainland and are being transported via cargo sea vessel simulator to standard freight. This has been done for decades with international shipments so again you ask "what sets them apart from the rest?' The answer again is simple. Because Alaska is a state and not another country the rules as slightly different. The same customs regulations that apply from shipping from one county to another do not apply. Only interstate regulations do and the fact that it is being transported by sea is where the similarly ends and the difference begins. Sea travel can be rough on any freight from the unpredictable weather and currents to the the loading and unloading at the ports. So to help combat these uncontrollable potential issues AAA has gone the extra mile. Instead of using international cargo containers/trailers and international moving pads made out of a combination of paper and cloth AAA has purchased a fleet of special household moving trailers on and off these boats and to and from Alaska. They're used for nothing else. Instead of the paper pads real household moving pads are used, the same ones that are used in standard interstate moves, which are thicker and offer better protection than paper pads. These pads stay with their assigned trailer and are able to be reused over and over allowing for not just better protection, but less mess than all the debris that one use paper pads create and allowing your items to be loaded in a much tighter and secure matter. And while all of their crews are trained and are capable and able to fully service your moving needs, the AAA Alaskan crews are given extra training to handle every step of the packing and loading/prep work with your items boat ride in mind to make sure your goods will ride out there most unexpected of harsh weather like the smoothest of sailing.

In short.... There are many excellent moving companies out there that will do a great, even exceptional job moving you and your family's goods. But when it comes to moving to or from Alaska AAA/Coleman Seattle have invested the time, money, and resources into having the right equipment and manpower to make sure they are a step above the rest and to make sure they should not just be your first, but your only choice for all of your family's moving needs. When the time comes to transport your life to or from the mainland AAA will go the extra mile to make sure it gets there as smoothly and safely as possible.

Horrible service, overbooks which results in delivery not being on time.  Lies about truck being serviced to make excuse for overbooking.  Staff sucks, have to keep pestering them to get any answers.  Stay away and take your business elsewhere.  Melanie Ovel worst coordinator.

Made comments on their website.  They purposely delete one star reviews to keep their rating up!  Fraud!!!

Kept asking them not to drag furniture across my wood floors, but they kept scratching the floors. Walls are dinged. Filthy dirty moving blankets were used on all my furniture, including my white sofa. STAY AWAY.

Mixed review but honest
The Allied contact passed us onto Coleman as their local contractor.
Coleman took all details and gave a competitive estimate.
On day of the move they called to advise pick up time. Rod Sweeney had not advised them that pick up had to be before midday as we had a flight home (move Seattle to Chicago)
They rearranged their schedule and movers turned up 12.30 this worked.
Separate packing list for item repack at depot.
This didn't happen...very annoyed and caused low rating.
Mover staff were nice guys both ends no complaints.
Communication was the issue and promises made were not kept...repack.

The ppl here are very nice and professional!!! The drivers are awesome sauce!!! They were so nice and funny, professional and on time.thanks for making our move so much easier.
