Colonial Animal Hospital is a full service medical and surgical veterinary hospital located in Midtown Springfield, VA, focused on dogs and cats.

Our philosophy is preventative health medicine which we individualize based on the animal's age and lifestyle. An annual examination is recommended for all patients. With the annual exam other preventative health measures are discussed based on the patient's needs.

Colonial Animal Hospital believes in lifestyle vaccinating. Vaccines are divided into core vaccines and optional vaccines. Optional vaccines are decided based on the pet's lifestyle. During the annual exam the patient's dental health is evaluated. We provide full service dentistries at Colonial Animal Hospital. Home care for the teeth is demonstrated at discharge. We can perform most necessary blood work in the hospital. Annual blood screening is recommended for all animals over 8 years of age. Other laboratory tests are sent out to a nationally recognized veterinary lab.

Colonial provides most routine surgical procedures for its patients. We use the safest anesthetic protocols available and customize them the patient's needs. Pain management protocols are incorporated into all surgical procedures. Colonial offers on site radiology and ultrasound. X-rays are taken and developed by our trained veterinary assistants. We provide the Home Again microchip identification system to our clients. Medicated and regular baths are available for both dogs and cats. Colonial Animal Hospital is great! My parents took both of our Golden Retriever’s there when I was younger and living at home, and now I take my kitty there as an adult. I travel from Woodbridge to Springfield for Vet appointments because of how amazing everyone is. 

I’ve seen all of the doctors there, and they are all so friendly, comforting and knowledgeable. They genuinely care about your pets, which is why I continue to use them! The staff are all friendly and helpful; some even offer pet sitting services! The receptionists and technicians all go above and beyond to ensure their clients are getting the absolute best in customer service. Colonial is the only place I feel comfortable boarding my kitty when I go out of town. I know he is snuggled, spoiled and well cared for while he stays there. If you’re looking for a new vet, or if you’re new to the area, Colonial is definitely the place to go!

Colonial Animal Hospital is by far the best place to have your pets seen and treated.  Dr Fennell and the rest of the staff have not just raised the bar, they are the bar!!!!  My dog was injured in Newport News Virginia and as my primary vet she personnally saw to it that my dog saw the best surgeon 👩‍⚕️ even though the surgeon was 95 miles away.  Without her ability to act quickly and diligently my dog would have needed hip replacement surgery.  Dr Fennell delivers 5 star service time and time again no matter what she is treating my dogs for.  I am an Air Force Colonel and integrity above all else is paramount to me and without question Dr Fennell’s integrity is beyond reproach.  Look no further if you want “The Best” in pet care.  Colonial Animal hospital in Springfield Virginia is truly the best in my professional opinion.

Do not take your pet here
I newly moved to nova in April 
Someone recommitted me while they take their pet somewhere else
Olderly vet Dr look like witch was not nice snd keep on adding many check up including hood test and call ray and lot more 
I told her that I can not afford $600 plus bill. Do she did partial work and next day she called me threatened me as if I don't do rest of the work I am cruel and will report me somewhere 
In fact she pressured and yelled at me
New to the city, not having enough funds Finaly I ask them if they can hold my check for few days
Vet suggested me talk to her employee and employee agreed
I brought my cat who is still not eating cat food but baby food being only 13 yrs old, drinking a lot and urinating a lot with hyperthoide and constipation issue.
After all exams, she said she could not find anything and I started getting coupons via email non stop to hit their food 50% off.
Next day I called to ask why my cat dress making and urinating a lot if no problem?
She said she is compansating by drinking lots of water.
What is that mean?
Does she have kidney issue?
No response
I took my cat many places in richmond where I moved from but sound like vet places I came across they all are scamming innocent people like me and keep on asking to visit them but result is zero and no problem
This is billion dollar industry just like Chinese massage places
They know you are single and can not live without your pet
That's all
I am not sure how they get license to run their business including SPCA
VET CALLED ALL MY PET CLINIC SND VERY ANGRY SAYING YOU DID NOT PAY VET CLINIC ONCE
FIRST OF ALL MO ONE SHOULD SLANDER ANY PATIENT NAME
SECOND NO ONE KNOWS ALL FACTS
THIRD OLD BET TRYING TOBYELL HER TO BE CAREFUL FROM ME AS SHE MIGHT DO THE SAME. 
This Vet was very rude and praising all of my vet in the past
I will suggest everyone not to have pet
And if you do take some classes to know how to take care of your own pet
And you f you come across anyone like this vet trying to scam you and result is positive that means she do not know what she is doing and working there to sell her pet food for 50% off to get rich
I wish someone can take these kids NS of vet to court and file class action law suit for not t knowing what they are doing and scammer nag innocent like me and you
Money doesn't grow in tree specially not mine
