I am a dual citizen, not in "extreme emergency" but need help with issues related to my deceased parents. While it was not easy to speak with someone, they did call me back within 24h and are attentive to my problems. I also have to add that my earlier dealing with them about my passport was excellent.

I made the mistake of trying to get information from the consulate. The woman who answered a phone was obviously not trained in the basics of customer service. She insisted on talking to me in English, a language she didn't speak well. Then when I switched to English, too, she put me on hold for 10 minutes. The phone line was horrible; I only heard every other syllable but she didn't give me any useful information, anyway. She did not tell me what documents I will need or if I wanted to make an appointment to come in, only, ominously: the process I inquired about may take a year! When I asked about the possibility of resolving the problem in Hungary, she told me as little information as possible, in monosyllables. She simply didn't answer some of my questions; she probably deemed them unimportant . I gave up; I realized that aside from waterboarding nothing could make her share any information with me. When in exasperation I asked about their e-mail address, she pointed out: it's on the website! and hung up.

Először is kilenctől egyig vannak nyitva... másodszor fel se veszik a telefont amikor nyitva vannak hogy gondolják hogy elérjük őket online három hónap múlva van időpont... ez most komoly??

Nev valtoztatas miatt kellett uj utlevelert a nagykovetseghez fordulnom. A katasztrofalisan lassu folyamat 180 fokos fordulatott vett, amint D. P. Ildikó e-mailemre valszolva kezebe vette az ugyem. Kevesebb, mint ket het alatt atvehettem szemelyesen a papirjaimat. Koszonom!
