My 2 young sons and I were here for dinner - 6 pm. I've been going to Cracker Barrel for 20+ years. I usually LOVE Cracker Barrel! Not this time. We were seated right away, which was nice. But they gave me a breakfast menu, and it was almost a full 10 minutes before someone took our drink order and switched my menu. I almost always order the same thing: the Cracker Barrel Sampler. But this time, I decided to try the ribeye steak. I ordered it medium, with sides of hash brown casserole, country-style green beans, and fried apples. When the food arrived, within a reasonable time, I might add, the steak was overdone - medium well at one end and well done at the other. The hash brown casserole was dried out and hard, with just a little soft in the middle. And there was a "fried" apple that had been cooked in my green beans. Needless to say, it was quite unsatisfying. However, I'm not really one to send things back - you just never know how it will come back. I ate as much as I could stomach, and told the server we were finished. Then I waited for the check. And waited. And waited. Another full 10 minutes. When I finally caught my server, she laughed, apologized, and said she had "forgotten" - she thought she had already given it to me. Then, as I'm getting ready to pay, she appears again, and tells me she had given me the wrong check! I hadn't noticed, as I really was just ready to leave. I'll tell you, if this was the first Cracker Barrel I'd ever tried, it would be the last.

I'm only rating this a 2 because the older ladies in the gift shop were friendly. However my server sucked. She was sick. Even asked us if tea was good for the throat?... she wasn't on top of our drinks. Had to ask another waiter for silverware and napkins. My food was alright but the apple cider chicken breast was just a small portion. I wasn't happy with it. If they can't give bigger meat portions they should have loaded more sides. Food was warm. Maybe another server/waiter would have made the experience more enjoyable.

I really liked their store where you can browse while you wait for your table. But the food to be honest even though the menu has all the classics was nothing special and lacking in flavor Apart from the decoration and the store I really do not have a reason to come back.
