Voted "MN's Best Throwback Venue" by the Star Tribune. Award-winning chef. The best in local and national music daily.
It was the second Golden Age of the 20th century. The Great Depression and World War II had given way to years of great growth and prosperity. Babies were “booming”, Eisenhower was in the White House. And Sinatra ruled the airways.
In America’s best restaurants “Continental Cuisine” graced the tables. Dishes brought back from the GI’s experience in Europe had evolved into something uniquely American. People dressed for dinner and added to the level of sophistication that made dining out a special occasion.
Relish trays, tableside service, great steaks and seafood and refinements such as Duck à l’Orange and Steak Diane were stapled on all menus. Martinis, Manhattans, Old Fashioneds and Whiskey Sours literally poured from the bars. And no meal was complete without an after dinner Grasshopper, Brandy Alexander or Crème de Menthe Frappé. And everywhere there was live music from Crooners tinkling the 88’s and giving us their versions of Sinatra, Martin, Como and Clooney.
Crooners Lounge and Supper Club celebrates and pays homage to this great era and the fabulous dining experiences it provided. We bring it to you with our own contemporary spin that is at once mid-20th century and yet current and relevant for today.
