Love Dairy Queen on a hot summer day. This one near CWU is old school in design and interior. Very cool old-style booths and tile accents on the walls. It’s small and the staff is friendly and efficient. Had a delicious Girl Scout thin mint blizzard and a chocolate dip cone. The best!
Man has dairy queen gone down hill. First off, the new burgers are awful, but I get that's a corporate thing. That being said, I sat in line for 10 minutes and my burger was cold... cheese wasn't even melted. Also I ordered a bacon burger and there wasn't even a whole piece of bacon on it. For $10, a bacon burger better have a couple pieces of bacon. The pictures show 2 pieces of bacon. I also ordered a chicken strip basket with ranch. Didn't get any ranch, and probably half as many fries as usual. Seriously for $32 bacon double $10, chicken strip basket $13, and blizzard $6, tax I expect some decent food. This was awful, and I don't understand how. Dairy queen has always been way more expensive than other fast food places, but come on. That's not inflation, that's just ridiculous.
Pulled into the drive thru at this super cute retro Dairy Queen at 8:40pm un-lite DIY sign indicates thy close at 9:00pm behind another car that moved up and got their order, i was told that they have no specials, then that the grill was off and that thy couldn't make food, so it doesn't matter. I sadly said I had mostly been looking for food, thy abruptly cut me off; OK Bye! I quickly asked about the seasonal blizzard and was told that thy didn't have anything to make those with. Kid-friendliness: Booster seating Parking: Super obvious free parking to the rear of the building. Be careful exiting on to alder st from the parking lot, suuuper old curb-cuts that start higher dip down, then up to a higher roadway can catch lower vehicles.
After a long day of work I ordered the chicken strip basket. When I got home there was no toast in my basket pretty much the only reason I order the basket. At least tell me if your not going to give me toast. Very disappointing :
Slow drive through and a sever lack of urgency in the kitchen. But the drive through employee is always polite and apologeticFood: 3/5
This location needs some better management...the employees are friendly, but the quality of the food is just gross. It is always a loooong wait for food and I don't know why because as soon as I got my fries they were cold. Not warm, cold. I didn't wanna go back in to get hot fries cause then I'd be there waiting for another 15 minutes
The staff was super friendly! Ice cream, really yummy . Now, as far as my cheese burger goes, that's another story. My hamburger pattie was something that resembled cold dehydrated meat. When put on the bun with cheese, the cheese didn't even melt. It was literally like beef beefjerky. So awful! But I didn't want to complain because the staff was so friendly. I think the fry cooks need some better training, that's all. The facility was on the lower end of the clean side, could use a big scrubbing down, and really needs updating. Other than that, it was a nice stop along the highway.
I attempted to purchase something at this establishment on Monday, May 2nd at 3:15 pm. I say attempted because they were closed in the middle of the day, my daughter couldn't order something inside the store. There was a sign that said they had a staffing issue. There were 8 cars in line at the drive thru and we couldn't wait 30 minutes for a dipped cone. I had to explain to my daughter why she couldn't get her treat for good grades. The sole purpose of Dairy Queen is to sell treats with ice cream and some hot food, and on that day they failed at that. Making no attempt to fix their issue they crushed kids dreams like some sort of horror movie. While there I also saw a sign saying they don't take 50 and 100 dollar bills. Refusing to take American currency while operating a business inside the United States is just anti-American. My family will not be going returning to this business, I will be spending my money elsewhere. We have two of these in town and I suggest taking your business to the other one as inconvenient as that may be.
Not spectacular for almost $15. But the folks working there seemed very polite and helpful.
My most recent order consisted of an incredibly watered-down soda, French fries that tasted more like fish than potato a clear sign they haven't changed their oil in a long time, and freezer-burned chicken fingers. Combined with slow service, this is the worst drive-thru of any type in Ellensburg.
