Dr. Daniel Marcus is a leading general surgeon in Marina Del Rey and West Los Angeles that specializes in minimally invasive procedures, hernia repair, and robotic surgery. Dr. Marcus is recognized as a leader in the field of minimally invasive surgery with an uncompromising dedication to excellence. He has a special interest in both laparoscopic and robotic surgery with particular interest in hernia repair of all types, gallbladder surgery, and problems of the gastrointestinal tract including colon, anti-reflux surgery and pancreas. He is well trained in oncologic surgery including breast and soft tissue. His passion for minimally invasive surgery and the use of the most cutting edge technology has led him to be one of the first surgeon’s in Southern California to perform Single Site Surgery. The elegance of this type of procedure enables a virtual incision free technique in many cases. For Complex Hernias, Dr. Marcus has combined Laparoscopic and ‘open’ procedures to maximize long term results both functionally and cosmetically.



Dr. Marcus helped establish the Robotic Surgical Program at Marina Del Rey Hospital. He believes in using surgical tools that minimize trauma to the body and yield better results than those procedures performed with traditional surgical methods. He continues to consult on the development of new instrumentation and procedures both in laparoscopy and robotic surgery. His extensive experience makes him well equipped to help you better understand your procedure and more effectively serve the needs of his patients.

Dr. Marcus received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. Following medical school, he completed his surgical residency at the world renowned Albert Einstein / Montefiore Medical Center and Columbia Presbyterian in New York. He then continued his passion for minimally invasive surgery by being accepted to and completed his fellowship at the highly regarded University of Oregon. Dr. Marcus was involved in the pioneering period of the growth of minimally invasive surgery and was instrumental in developing several techniques in this rapidly growing field.

Dr. Marcus has authored several published papers and book chapters on minimally invasive surgery as well as an invited speaker at surgical conferences in the US and abroad speaking on minimally invasive approaches to hernia and other disorders. He has appeared on multiple news, television programs and newspapers speaking about minimally invasive surgery to help educate on safe surgery and technical advances in minimally invasive procedures.
