The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority, or DART, is the largest public transit agency in Iowa, serving 19 member governments in and around Polk County.
Local Routes
Local Route service is provided in Altoona, Des Moines, Pleasant Hill, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights. Routes operate Monday through Friday, with limited service on evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
Flex Routes
Flex Route service is provided in Clive, Urbandale, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights. Routes operate as a fixed-route that flexes between scheduled stops, deviating up to one mile from the fixed route. Customers may request a flex trip by calling 515-283-8136 during DART service hours.
Express Routes
Express Route service is provided in Altoona, Ankeny, Clive, Des Moines, Johnston, Urbandale, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights. Routes operate Monday through Friday during the morning and evening rush hours, picking up passengers at limited stops and providing direct, non-stop service to and from downtown Des Moines.
Shuttle Routes
The LINK Shuttle (Rt. 40) operates between the Center Street Park & Ride (7th and Center Streets) and destinations throughout downtown Des Moines. The LINK is free and operates Monday through Friday, every 15 minutes, between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The D-Line Downtown Shuttle (Rt. 42) operates between the East Village and the Western Gateway along Grand Avenue and Locust Street. The D-Line is free and operates Monday through Friday, every 10 minutes, between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
On Call Services
On Call service is provided in Alleman, Ankeny, Bondurant, Carlisle, Easter Lake, Granger, Grimes, Mitchellville, Northwest Johnston and Polk City. On Call service picks up passengers at their doors and takes them to destinations within specific zones. Reservations are required for all On Call services. DART RideShare Services

Paratransit Services
DART Paratransit service is provided for senior citizens and persons with disabilities living in Polk County who are functionally unable to independently use the regular DART bus service all of the time, temporarily or only under certain circumstances.
