I have to take the Montreal to NYC bus frequently and I started out taking Greyhound until I was so put off by their “service” that I looked into something else. I’m so glad I found Trailways. The buses and drivers are so much nicer and the bus is always where it should be on-time. I am never going back to Greyhound.
Took a bus from NYC to Buffalo and back. Overall good experience. Bus was clean and on time both ways it was almost 8hrs drive. Both the drivers were absolutely good and very safe driving
Badly in rush of a ticket to syracuse for an emergency, I took a chance and booked a flex fare ticket on Friday morning so I could get there from Port Authority starting at 7:30 While I was disappointed and scared that the Adirondacks Trailways ticketing booth wasn't in its place in PABT nor were there any representatives, I managed to find the gate of departure. From there everything went absolutely smoothly. The bus was clean, huge, vey comfortable and the bathroom was also very nice. Never tested the wifi preferring to tether to my phone. My electrical sockets didn't work however life isn't perfect. There was a 15 minute break and the bus arrived on schedule. The driver handled everything professionally and drove very safely. So my last bit of advice to the company is to make sure your office is open or reps are walking around. PABT generally has bad information. I don't blame Trailways for everything PANYNJ does wrong.
Use trailways to visit family all the time upstate from the city and always use a student discount. But recently on the website I wasn't able to use my student discount so I called to ask about it and they said on the website is not working but if I go to the ticket booth at port authority it should be no problem. But when i got there they said I can't use my discount to where I was going with no explanation even knowing i use it to the same place everytime. And the outlets never work on the bus plus the seats look like they were made in the 70s. Don't know why the change but disappointed about it.
From Utica to Albany on January 20, trip was delated by am hour because the driver was incompetent and took a road that led to a low bridge.. driver had to back up few hundred feet in the middle of traffic and do all sorts of wild maneuvers in a side parking lot trying to rectify his mistake.. Now coming back to Utica from Albany January 22, the bus breaks down and all the passengers are made to wait in the service area while waiting for the replacement bus. This is the last time I use Trailways. You try to save some money and look what it gets you.
Even if you paid for your ticket, you are sure to leave with bus : We booked a bus from New York to Montreal When we wanted to enter into the bus we were told that there were no sit available because you sold more tickets than you have sit in the bus. We were left on the gate with no solution to join Montreal and nowhere to spend the night. The driver just gave us a phone number that didn’t respond to any of our calls. We were 9 people in this situation just for this ride. When I finally sucess to join someone the day after I understood that this situation is really usual with this company and that we should not expect any help from them. Of course, we didin’t get any compensation for the desagrement or for night in the hotel we had to book in emergency. The company just gave us another ticket for an other day without choice of hour or day.
Just like to say thanks to this company who help us 4 young girls from canada . We got fraud by another company and they help us come back home. They have great employees and great services. Next time we will book with them for sure!!
I always take the trail ways bus from 42nd Street Port Authority All Buses go there and leave from there quick and convenient and easy
I love traveling. Sometimes the bad comes with the good, especially so as a solo traveling woman, because I have learned through many experiences while traveling during the pandemic that it is super important to always be aware of your surroundings! Traveling upstate not long after passing through Saratoga Springs, I opened my eyes to find the man sitting across from me recording me on his phone. I covertly caught some video of him recording me and immediately tweeted it out. Just in case something happened to me and I had gone missing. Because this is how something like that starts! And believe it or not, soon after, Mr. Creepy McPerv here tried to lean over and ask me a personal question - a gesture that got immediately shut down!!! Is he NUTS? Luckily for me I made it off of that ride alive, but let's make sure this man's photo is circulated so that other female solo travelers do not have to experience the terror of what I went through! Be careful ladies!
My Disabled father was told he could not re enter the bus because he took his mask off with one step left until he reached outside. This occured 2-3 hours into the trip during one of their stops. He now has to find a hotel in an area that he is not familiar with and has to miss Thanksgiving with his family. Terrible service and company. I would highly recommend finding a different way to travel.
